So, Oxford for the next meet.

The rough plan runs something like this:

In the day -

Meet around 1pm, perhaps go for lunch somewhere. There're some decent noodle places around which should cover most people's tastes. After lunch we wander the city. There are plenty of places to see just walking around. I've not gone inside any of the universitys yet - they might charge but I doubt it would be much and they do look lovely (I trepassed around one many years ago and they are very nice inside). Alternatively there is a very good modern art gallery and a couple of great museums if people are interested.

In the evening -

We find a pub where those who want to eat can get some food. This will probably be the Red Lion because it's cheap. We might move on to the Three Goats' Heads (a Sam Smith's pub) which is a bit dingy but also cheap. If people are up for it there's a cocktail bar called Maxwells (apparently it's been famous since 1972, although I don't know what for), and to completely finish us off there's a rather crowded but friendly gay pub/club called The Castle. All that would probably tail off around 1:30am.

There are 24 hour coach links direct from Oxford to Nottinghill Gate, Marble Arch, and London Victoria which costs 16 for a weekend return (going home the next day). There are rail links from all over the place too.

Offline I'm usually called: Mata
Number of people coming so far: 1
I'll be arriving: Almost exactly seven months before the meet
I'll be leaving: Hopefully not too soon. I rather like it here.
I'm up for meeting during the afternoon: Yes
18 or over?: Until quantum physics or gene technology provides an alternative
I'm up for going for an evening meal somewhere: Yep
I'm up for going to a pub in the evening: Many pubs, actually.
I'm up for going to a club in the evening: 'Club' may be a loose description, but yes.
Staying the night?: Yep.
Accommodation has been arranged?: Yep.
Can offer accommodation to others?: Pixe has already nabbed one spot. I think Cath and Froggy may be blagging the rest. There's camping space for a small tent in the back garden if needed, but I doubt it'll be ideal weather!

Still a bit tenuous at the moment as I've just got a bill for new glasses and been told I'm ready (when I feel it) to go for the first Driving Instrutors exam. But it my b'day at the end of the month so hopefully should be able to afford the ticket. I just need to hold out a bit longer to work out my finances. *is keeping her fingers crossed*

I would love to come, but will be in Aberdeen after being in New York- so absolutely skint!
Was thinking of suggesting a Christmas-time-ish meet, although it's probably also a difficult time for people. Hmm. Anyway!

I was hoping to come but unfortunately I have a previous engagement with 2000 other people and an Australian heavy metal band.

Just waiting to book my ticket on payday, Pixi. Then I will post a confirm here wink.gif

I have a friend in Oxford who might come along, and her didter. But she doesn't know if she's working ATM or not.

Alas, the reality of my screwed up working hours have hit home and, after paying back overdraft and my rent (as small a sum as it is) as well as new uniform I need for work, I'll have less than 500 to last me the month. Which isn't really enough to go bumbling up to Oxford and shell out for lodgings with.

I think I can pretty much confirm that I'll be coming (on orders from Froggy tongue.gif ) after some though (and the petrol price dropping by the best part of 20p a litre) I shall drive down that way I'll arrive at a more convient time and not have to carry any baggage round with me. So if it's ok could you PM me your address Mata so I can plan a route and your mobile number for when that doesn't work, which of course I'll make sure it definatly does as I dont want to have to rely on the directions of a certain perdestrian. tongue.gif

I have a single-sized inflatable matress, two sleeping bags, and blankets. If one of you has a double matress or another single that you could bring then you'll have a nice and comfy night!

Hrm, I'd like to register my hesitant interest in showing my face for this one; I get payed just before the day its on, so I'll have a little bit of cash, but its gonna be touch-and-go as to whether or not I can get the time to come.

I'll keep you posted (and yes, I know its in 9 days tongue.gif)

I'm afraid I can't make it.

I crashed and wrote off my car on Monday and what with everything else that's going on at the moment I just don't feel up to travelling down to Oxford.

Sorry it's such short notice.

We understand. We'll miss you, but we understand.

You do know you're welcome to visit whenever you like anyway though, don't you? I really do mean that. Turn up on a Tuesday night at 11:30 if you fancy (although I might answer the door in my dressing gown and armed with a boken...). smile.gif
