it's that time again, my computer is giving me issues!
i had a worm and a few other things, so my mom handed me iolo. however, this virus doesn't allow me to open things on the desktop, so i booted it from the boot menu. now, if you use the boot version, it wipes your OS as well and i have no xp disc. so, now my computer boots just fine and shows the emachine (please dont throw tomatoes..) logo and everything, but, naturally, it can't get very far with no OS. so i ordered windows 7 to arrive on thursday. my concern is that i wont be able to install it. i did read reviews where someone did the same thing i did and was able to re-install his OS just fine, but i'm a huge skeptic and never get my hopes up until it happens. would there be any reason i wouldn't be able to install W7 when it gets here? as of right now, my computer is just completely purged of data.

er... ya... your computer needs to be up to the task of running Win7... look up the system requirements for Win7 and compare to your system... you may be good... but then again you may not

i'm 999999.9999% sure it is. the computer itself is less than two years old and up to date.

Indeed, as long as your hardware is up to scratch, you'll be fine. Scrubbing the HDD before an OS install is actually probably better than doing an upgrade, less old data to be corrupted.

so, it wont allow me to use my driver to install on. i have to change a bios setting but i'm not sure which one. their tech support was little help - my next step is calling emachines, but i cant right now as i'm babysitting and pretending to pay attention to a movie >_> and magically typing without looking down. hope this isnt riddled with typos.
