Well I have counsel in the shape of the lovely LoLo, so nyah!! I think The Matrix relied too much on visual tricks an a complicated plot that nerds would spend too long analysin at great length *ahem* unsure.gif

Whereas the X-Men is nicely plotted, just enough action, an stays nicely faithful to the comic strip. Plus Hugh Jackman is bloody great as Wolverine!

Purely objectively, I can see where she's comin from. Havin lots o women friends, ya learn to appreciate blokes aesthetically even if ya never feel the urge to do anythin about it...

Oi!

biggrin.gif

Darn those films that rely on a complicated plot.... Ummm... No, I actually like complicated plots.

I'm not saying that something like From Dusk 'Til Dawn is rubbish (people go to place, place has lots of vampires, people kill vampires) but I like a plot that I can chew on afterwards.

I think that's why the X-men films are good but haven't done much for me, you watch them, you go 'oo, that's cool' and then it finishes and you walk away. There's nothing to think about or learn.

Oopsie... that guy could rob me of me moddy undies if I'm not careful... unsure.gif

Nah, I much prefer a dumb film. I like a film to entertain me wi'out me needin to think. The so-called "mindless entertainment"! laugh.gif I spend so much time thinkin about stuff at work (how to fix stuff that breaks, how to get new kit past the tight-fisted boss, how to plan this upgrade, how to deal with the political BS) that I wanna break from it all...

Although the odd thinky movie works. But only when I can be really bothered...

Yes!

It's a corker of a film, isn't it? Mad as a jalopy full of herring, but utterly brilliant. And the tunes are inspired...

However, 'Nightmare Before Christmas' gets my vote, with Matrix gamely jogging along afterward.

Some smashing choices, there. I was just astounded at seeing a Hedwig fan in our midst...

Seen 'Velvet Goldmine'? Maybe you should...

I saw part of it but ended up turning off the idiot box to go get chinese. But what I saw was good and I'm looking through the rental shelves for it.

Mata, have you seen Vanilla Sky? There is a "thinker movie" for ya. Why so many people I know didn't like it, I can not fathom. Hmm...maybe I should have put that on the poll, too...
