Hurrah! I'm off on a cheap holiday to San Francisco with my bloke in October and there are currently 3 things I REALLY want to do....er...make that 4...

1. See the Golden Gate Bridge. I was there last year for 1 day and it was bloody foggy so I missed it! dry.gif
2. Get another tattoo
3. Learn to skateboard
4. Visit Alcatraz

Any other ideas for fun things to do???

Sam

Wander around the second hand book and clothing shops in the Castro, there's loads of cool stuff in there.

Where are you going to get your tattoo?

Yeah I was told Haight Ashbury was a cool place and probably the place to head for tattoo parlours also. Never heard of See's chocolate. I've heard of Hershey's, etc. but that it's horrid. My cousins live out there and they are always getting me to bring them Cadbury's coz American chocolate is shite (alledgedly!) biggrin.gif

american choc. is shaaattttyyyyyyy! but See's is off the hook.. it is a indy company out of San Fran. So it doesnt have the Hershy mass marketing behind it.. but it is really. really good.. everytime one of us goes to Cali for buisness we always pick up a huge box of it.
You should be able to find some really good artist on Ashbury.. some of the guys there have been doing ink since the 50's..

Hehehe I can have See's anytime I want...........ok that was meen.

Depending on how much time you have in San Fran here are my suggestions: Go to the exploritorium, sure it's all science crap and it's meant for kids but it's still fun. I hear Angel Island is wonderful. If you have time to leave go to Marine World in Vallejo, it's not too far away. If you have even more time go to Santa Clara and hit up Great America, it's a kick @ss amusement park. If you have even more time, hop on the Amtrak and go up the coast a couple hours to Fort Bragg or Mendicino. I have yet to see a prettier part of the coast, than in these two areas.

I'm out of ideas though it's been forever since I went to the Bay Area, but I'm going there this weekend, we just don't know what we're doing yet. lol

Sam

Lake Tahoe, maybe seg way over to Reno Nevada from there, it's like a mini vegas. Go to Sacramento, and hit up old sac, but after being in san fran that may not compare.

I gotta go get ready for work. Hope you like the ideas.

Sacred Rose and it really is an amzing piece of work.

Their site is here http://www.sacredrosetattoo.com/ There's a map on there too. It's located in the southwest area of central SF. My friend sat there for four days getting his done.

Here's a couple of scanned in pics of what he had done. The top picture shows the tat halfway through being done and a comparison with the standard of an old tattoo he's got. http://www.matazone.co.uk/matttat1.jpg

Thank Mata and cheers to all you others who've suggested things or wished me well on the trip smile.gif This really is a friendly board which makes a change coz sometimes they can be real bitchy.

Those tattoos are amazing so I'll check out their site and get my tattoo design finished before I go. I have an idea in my head but for some reason, somewhere between my head and my hand it goes horribly wrong and what comes out of the page is AWFUL. Never was very good at art though sad.gif. Perhaps I should try telepathy and tell my boyfriend what I want and he can draw it as he's very artistic!

*hugs all*

I'm still feelin' the lurrve biggrin.gif

What kind of tat do you want pixie? You can describe it and someone might be able to draw it there, or you can describe it to your bf and he might be able to do it....just a suggestion

I would like a Dragon between my shoulder blades. No bigger than about 3 inches by 2 inches. I want the wings spread out to the left and right so they sit within my shoulder blades and an S shaped body. I would like it to look stylised and tribal rather than Chinese although a combination of all would be OK.

I want a Dragon because that's my Chinese sign and also my Gran's who died recently and I would like it to remember her by and signify how much she meant to me. She'd appreciate it I'm sure and she was a cool Granny! biggrin.gif

Anyone on here any good at design?
