Humbug. I'm miffed with big sigs. But I've discovered that there's an option buried in your profile where you can turn them off, so you can turbo scan threads. It's reet good, it is.

Try it, you might like it.

i dont like the amazingly long sigs, but people are using these picture thingies instead of writing. it cuts down on room, and is quite nice to look at.

just wondering jonman, is my sig too long?

Hmmm... some of the tags are starting to stretch the pages a little...

Still, most of the sigs here are OK, in my view.

Yours is very sexy, jon. Keep it up...

No, I'm at work. If I go to chat, the internet police come round and confiscate my fingers.

Woohoo! Thanks for pointing that out, Jonman. *changes her sig-viewing options*

But then you don't get to see the individual ideas and political/emotional/contractual ties they have to other governments/ways of life/people/organizations and you miss out on web pages and funny stuff, and sometimes people change their sigs. That's almost as bad as turning peoples avs off.

I liked sigs back when they weren't full of oversized images. The smaller banners were okay. The huge pictures really need to go. I mean, SERIOUSLY need to go.

That's true, Oni, but some of the sigs have been getting more and more out of hand lately. I hate to miss out on all the reasonable/interesting/good sigs, but at the same time I'm sick of having to scroll through two-and-a-half pages of text and/or graphics in the sigs for the minority of people that do get out of hand.

I'm in complete agreement with MistressAlti's comment. Maybe there needs to be an image size/character limit in sigs or something.

That's not my quote but I'll answer this one anyway. tongue.gif

*turns sigs back on for a moment*

hinsley, I think your sig image qualifies as one of the "smaller banners" of acceptable size (in my opinion). There was someone else recently who had like 3 or 4 rather large images in his/her sig in addition to the usual text, and that's what got on my nerves. I had to scroll and scroll in order to get past it all.

NummyNums, that pic was way to big so I've chopped it out.

Jonman and Leo, I would prefer it if you guys did keep sigs turned on. One of the mod jobs is too keep a check on the size of people's sigs so that they don't get annoying. You can do this in Mod CP>Manage Members search for the member then edit their profile.

It's evil but needed sometimes. RunAwayFromDanger Man posted the entire lyrics of a song, double spaced in his sig. It wasn't so bad once I'd reduced the size to -1 and replaced new lines with '//' biggrin.gif

I've decided to turn sigs off now - the proliferation of sig pics was making my clockwork puter sweat.
