Niiice. Haven't listened to that in a while. Bona fide classic.

Last night, I treated my ears to, in reverse order (for the hell of it), 'The Colour And The Shape' by Foo Fighters, 'Chops' by Euros Childs, disc one of the Rough Trade 'Singer Songwriters 1' comp, and 'Von' by Sigur Ros.

I was in a funny mood last night, as you can probably tell.

Dub Side Of The Moon was probably last summer's soundtrack for me. It has memories of strange fancy-dress shops in Soho, and falling asleep listening to Dark Side Of The Moon and waking up to the dub version.

Eugh. I detest Dark Side of the Moon. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

In my mind, it is like The Beatles or Nirvana. It isn't stunning as a piece of musical creation- but it is clever and is so popular because it was at the forefront of a certain era.

I'm listening to the sound of rainwater drip from my hair. I got caught in a storm whilst running errands for my boss. When he comes in, I am SO going to give him what for. Probably in the form of a glare.

To me, 'Dub Side...' was the album I'd drop onto the store stereo when I was feeling a bit willful. The looks of dawning realisation - and occasionally disgust - on the faces of the old rockers was priceless. It's an interesting and good album, much better than the patchy 'Radiodread' followup.

I like it 'cause it's different from pretty much all the other stuff I listen to. In a way relaxing, but at the same time good to get up and do stuff to. Not big on lyrics, but still has some. Nice long solos. (And if it's a guitar solo, twice as awesome!)

A Makeshifte music video on my friend's profile. It's... okay.

"So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking/ Racing around to come up behind you again./ The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,/ Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time./ Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines/ Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way/ The time is gone, the song is over,/ Thought I'd something more to say."

I dunno, I'd say the lyrics are... indicative at least.

Indicative of the feeling of the times, the individual mebers, of having to deal with age. Indicative of many things, hence it just being left at that tongue.gif Remember, also, that it was an album made just after Syd had to leave due to mental illness. It isn't going to be about happiness and cheery rainbows.

Cibo Matto's 'Viva! La Woman' last night and this morning. It's one of those albums I forget about, then listen to contantly until I get sick of it, and then put aside to gather dust for a few weeks until the cycle is ready to repeat itself. Great album.

After persuading Mr DJ to stop playing annoying electro music (far too early in the day for it), he played the new Beastie Boys' album. It is entirely instrumetal and my god is it awesome.

We're now listening to Tiger Tunes as it is past eleven.

I love this song, I never really heard any of TCTC's second album and apparently they have a third... anyone heard anything of it?

The new manager of what used to be Music Zone Hanley looks rather a lot like Bovril Lavigne. This amuses me. But not as much as you buying her new album. I shall point and laugh at the next best opportunity.

Bog off dry.gif

If it makes you feel any better I cancelled the order....not because of any Matazone peer pressure.....but because CD WOW were taking ages and didn't know when it was going to be available so nur tongue.gif

O'course, to point and laugh you'd have to come along to one of the meets Inky. We've got one in four weeks in London *hint hint*.

Personally, I've been listening to Zombie Girl. Mostly the remixes of 'Bleeder' but the other stuff is quite jolly too. It's gothy-industrial-dance with a sense of humour; however, I think I might go and listen to Dark Side of the Moon now after reading this page. I love the gloriously indulgent music contrasting with the deep sense of meaningless life in the lyrics.

I'm already going to be in London for the David Devant this weekend. I'm not bloody made of money. ;P

I got my Rough Trade comps today, and packed them both for weather dependant listening. If it brightens up later, I've got my Indiepop, but if it rains again, it's Post Punk. They're both ramshackle things of wonder, but one's just a lot chirpier than the other.

In an odd parallel, I bought the new issue of Uncut this fine morn, and the cover CD was compiled by the very same Mr Dylan. It's tracks from his radio show, and promises to be a diverting listen on the way home, especially as I think that the Rough Trade Post Punk comp is actually summoning the torrential rain with its shambolic brilliance.

I'm not much of a Dylan fan, I'll admit. Great songwriter - he's been well covered by too many artists to list - but i find his performance style somewhat lacking.
