i'm going with guards 'cause vimes and angua are my favourite characters. i was angua for halloween 2 years ago, nifty costume if i do say so myself.

it was also the first series i got my dad to read. when i was angua, he dressed up as duck man!

Death all the way! I love the way he keeps getting things slightly wrong - there's something quite endearing about it.

I was so unutterably chuffed when I played him at University (as I mentioned in a previous thread), but it still came with its pitfalls.

Firstly, I had to pose for a mask-fitting, which involved wearing a plastic bag on my head and covering my face with Vaseline. Yeesh...

Then I had to find a way to make myself taller. Death is a towering and imposing figure, and I... ain't. I'm 5' 11" (in shoes), and that just doesn't cut it. In the end my dad crafted a pair of siz-inch platform shoes out of an old pair of boots and some wood. Fan-bloody-tastic.

The cloak was easy, but finding a scythe was trickier. We almost had to resort to using a crappy plastic thing, but then my parents found a bloke selling one ofr a tenner at a car boot sale. It's bloody massive - about 51/2 feet, with a 3 foot blade - and it now hands on my wall above me bed.

The whole set-up was bizarre. There I stood in platform boots, wearing a thick black cloak that brushed the floor and an all-over plaster-of-paris mask that meant that I couldn't wear my glasses, weilding a scythe.

It's amazing no-one died...

The year after the next I played Vimes, which was far easier as it took a less extreme costume, a less artificially booming voice, and Vimes and I are practically the same person anyway...
