Had to reinstall win98se today. Last time I did it I had to format c: and start again five times, this wasn't as bad as that luckily but now msn won't work ::cries:: I simply can't function without it! I think I'll just have to make a new acount but if that doesn't work I'll have to consider going outside to talk to people. O_O And I don't have the phone numbers of any of my friends... (all two of them..)

I need a hug.....

Windows is evil, but feel free to question me.

You needn't format the drive for an install. Usually an over the top job will do the trick. Also, if anybody has come across the 'cant upgrade with this version' problem - rename win.com and all will go fine as an upgrade installation.

*drops a metaphysical grand piano on Windows' head*
The sooner I can switch to gentoo or debian the better.

I don't like installing over the top, ever, and besides it doesn't take much longer to format and I have all my data and installers on another partition.

Tell you what... I'll aid you with winders if you make me wise in the ways of linux - I made a mandrake box out of spare parts a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not overly experienced when it comes to the penguin...

Bah!

In that case I would suggest starting with Mandrake or RedHat. Start off with the easy ones to set up before moving to a power distro. Gentoo terrified me!

Yeah I know gentoo can be scary but I'm a tough cookie honest! I don't really want to install redhate or mandrake though, debian looks like the one I'll go with and I'll be duel booting it with win2k so I'll have something else to use when the pressure gets too much..
Meh, anything other than another win9x installation would be fine actually, If I see another bsod I think I'm going to scream.

My msn is fudged but it is because I recently upgraded it to version 6 and my comp likes to freeze whenever I ty to use it,among other times. I plan on getting it fixed as soon as I can.

I am glad you got your comp working and I am glad your msn is working for you too.

Gah, msn6 is evil. I like the new av and background features but I hate the skin and it's really bloated and slow. I went back to 4.6 after a few days (you can get it from oldversion.com)
