An enormous amount of emotion is conveyed through the eyes. So, I was just wondering... I always make eye contact, so you don't wonder.

The few people I actually enjoy talking to I make eye contact with. Most people I just tend to stare at an inanimate object, usually clocks, they rule, what with the ticking and the tocking and the hands and the numbers and...

I usually look at people in the eyes when I'm talking...unless I am doing something else, then I look at what I'm doing but I listen and respond to them...and even when I am directly talking to some people, I avert my eyes...because they make me bashful...and I am afraid they will see it in my eyes...tee hee hee... happy.gif *blushes*

It varies on the person. If it's someone I'm not crazy about or someone i dunno then ya i have probs with it.

I remember when Jonathan and I had our first hookup. I was very shy and I know it, same with him, but he was able to get outta shy mode before me lol. But we're certainly cool now, I luv my angel smile.gif wub.gif

It depends. Not on if I know them or not, because if I'm have a nice talk with somebody I don't know (like at the store or something), I will still make eye contact. The only times I don't is when somebody makes me uncomfortable--like if a strange guy is being too forward or a jerk... then I usually avoid making eye contact with that person.

Always, I worked as a waiter for three years, making eyecontact with the customer is a big part of service.. even if you are only trying some sort of mind trick which will end in you getting a huge tip.

Though I might not look people in the eye when I'm talking to them if I'm busy with something else.. like knife juggling, or trying to stop a bus full of pre-schollers going off a cliff. Ya'know?

Depends....with customers always...with other people...only when I'm really interested in what they have to say, or when I'm trying to drive a point home. The rest of the time I watch their whole face.

looking into someone's eyes while I'm talking is too distracting, for both parties involved. Instead I flail my arms around animatedly and try not to stay in one spot while I talk, either that or talk while i'm doing something else so I can focus on what I'm doing to avoid contact /shiver

or could be a sign of any mental disorder.

if you don't look straight in the eye, does it automatically mean yoiu're lying?
i am like that most of the time, so most people think i'm a big liar or something.

I watched a TV programme once, where they said that the best way of talking to someone is to spend 1/3 of your time looking at their mouth, and the rest looking them in the eye. It's not threatening and is good for building trust.
Or so I'm told. I only do it when I'm too bored to listen to them talking.

It depends for me. On whether or not I trust and/or like them. I find myself unable to look one of my roommates in the eye for very long. I dont know why, but I generally spend a lot of time staring at the curtains when we're talking.

But, if I trust and like someone, I'll make them look me in the eyes. I'm giving them the utmost respect in doing so, and I like ot have it in return.

Eye contact is very important to me, in case you couldn't tell.

Yes, I like reading people's reaction to their environment, to me, to what's being said. I find eyes intriguing...

I typically don't. It's mainly because I'm actually a very shy and nervous person, so I tend to look at the ground or somewhere to their right.
