Ain't University great? We watched 'Bells' the episode where Black Adder nearly marries a girl who's mascarading as a manservant. I haven't done something of such questionable educational value since I took my last math class!

For those of you who don't know, Black Adder is a Rowan Atkinson vehicle where he protrays the title character, a sort of slimy lord of the English court through various ages in England. Quite funny and very well done.

What's the last thing in school that you've done of questionable educational value?

I *heart* Blackadder...

we once watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail in my 10th grade World History class....and all we did was watch movies in Debate class....then debate them.

ah...good times...I miss HS.

Hmmm... I haven't ever seen Blackadder... Guess I should go pick it up. biggrin.gif ::runs to Blockbuster and back.:: But I WILL say that Monty Python and The Holy Grail (and the series, etc.) is definately one of the funniest things I've ever seen, even tho' it can be slightly crude at times. happy.gif; Anyways, based on that love of MP and the HG, would I like Blackadder? o.o?

Nice. I once watched The Life Of Brian in a Religious Education Class. It taught me how ludicous religion could be. And also precisely what it was that the Romans did for us.

What did the Romans ever do for us, eh?

I also watched MP and the Holy Grail at Uni, except we watched it in a Medieval Literature class because the tutor believed that it's one of the most accurate portrayals of what life was most likely like in the dark ages, ie. everyone except the nobility was covered in mud.

Yeah, Mr Bean is a bit cack...

But Blackadder is the mutts nuts! I personally love the 2nd series best, but I like the first and fourth too. The third was a bit weak, for me, it was too much Ben Elton humour fer me, an I think it detracted from it a bit. I never saw the last one (Back and Forth) so I can't comment...

Oh, jus gotta say that Brian Blessed as Richard IV in the first series was utterly brilliant, they couldn't have picked a better person to play him!

Chiswick, fresh horses!

The fourth series was very good as well as making some very valid points about WWI, such as a lot of the soldiers not knowing why they were going to battle...

Baldrick: Isn't it because someone shot an ostrich?

Blackadder is the absolutely utmost ... end of .... All the series are fantastic too, tho I'll admit to preferring 2 and 4 ... the trial? oh boy ... that was funny ... There is also a special Blackadder version of Christmas Carol that is well worth it ...Edmund starts off as the nicest guy in town, until he is visited by the ghost ... a short Extract, the opening scene:

(Camera mounted on crane comes down revealing and oooold london street, snow, scalliwags running around, and centers on Blackadders Pharmacy shoppe thing ... Meanwhile we hear, in voice off:

Blackadder: HUMBUG! HUMBUG!

(we enter shop, where blackadder appears with a bag of sweeties...)

Blackadder: Humbug, Mr Baldrick?

Aaaah blackadder .....

As to 'lowest educational value, this one counts:

Back at high school, we were doing Don Quijote de la Mancha in Spanish ... Bare in mind that this is in a country where everybody are fluent spanish speakers, tho it was a French school ...

Anyhow, the teacher mentioned that the Video room was available the following week, and that we should try to get the movie of Don Quijote. A hand flys up and one our mates says "YEAH ... I've seen it at the video store, I'll bring it in ...."

So the room is reserved and that following wednesday we all get into class knowing that we could go watch a movie (over 2 sessions) which pretty much suited us down to the ground ... The teacher arrived and asked if the guy had got the movie ... He says 'eeeeerrmmmm, well actually there was a bit of a problem' .... The film he'd seen in the video store was not Don Quijote de la Mancha but Don Cipote de la Manga, a terrible play on words that basically meant it was a low-level porn movie ... So instead he decided to get Firefox! FIREFOX! with Clint Eastwood, for pete's sake! About the russian aircraft ... you know ....

Well, the teacher wanted to go see a movie too, and said she had nothing else prepared ... so WE ACTUALLY WENT TO SEE IT! Thats 2 spanish lessons taken up by seeing a spy movie with some good visual effects ... those were the days ...

The fourth series is probably my favorite simply because of "Coffee Darling?"

Blackadder back and forth was probably the only highlight of the millenium dome....except maybe the sushi bar, that wasn't bad, but not worth errecting the worlds largest tent for....but thats besides the point

you have to admit, bob was very pretty
