Does anyone else find that, after being awake for 79hours, stairs and cupboard edges leap out at you and frighten you?

That's the second time today I've fallen over for no good reason. To the CoffeeMobile, Batman!

All I can say is avoid looking at chintzy pattern wallpaper and psychotroic substances. But definitely avoid the wallpaper.

Ah no young Jedi you have much to learn from a clumsy old git like me laugh.gif I am always banging my knees, hips, ankles on parts of my desk usually on a daily basis. I regularly punch or bang my ample hips on door frames while carrying things (which subsequently get dropped on my foot!). I also manage to fall up and down stairs, sideways sometimes, usually when I think, "Oh I haven't hurt myself today yet!"

And don't get me started about paper cuts! rolleyes.gif dry.gif

It's a miracle I've not crashed my current car yet!! biggrin.gif

Paper-cuts? The last time I tried to rip the term 'paper-cut' out of my dictionary I needed 4 stitches.

I have to go with Pixie on this one. I work at a store with a set of stairs I have to run up and down at least 10 times a day, and I fall up the stairs at least once every day.

People at my work have gotten used to hearing **crash** , then me yelling, "I'm ok!"

79 hours, eh?

Did you know that after 72 hours of not sleeping, you're legally insane and not responsible for your actions?

Actually he was already insane. He is responsible for things though - really really bad things.

He should go to sleep.

I've fallen up the stairs on occassion too. I've also slammed my own fingers in car doors, fallen down stairs, gotten attacked by doors, hit by stationary cars and did a number of things that seemed like a very good idea at the time, but just led to pain and an overall feeling of stupidness.

My best lack of sleep story comes from when I nipped over to France for three days, and didn't sleep. When I got home I went to bed only to be woken by a phone call shortly afterwards. Now, on the way back I had run out of Rizlas, so when woken up I decided to get some more. It was only after I'd walked to the supermarket and discovered it was closed that I realised it was 2AM and dark.

You know you aren't firing on all cylinders when you can't distinguish between night and day...

well...actually, there is this one staircase in school where I went through a period of about a year of constantly falling UP them, it was annoying considering my locker was up there... ooo and once, (also in school) I was climbing up this staircase (note a different one) and I manage to trip up, fall into my friend while my shoe went flying off and a guy had to give it back to me saying, "I think this is yours". That was embarrassing...

Clearly the stairs that attack most often are the metal, spiral variety.

The store I worked in in NYC had some. And you had to go up them to get to the office. I always banged my shin against at least a few steps. I'm convinced that it rotated too tightly or something, because they were impossible to get up or down those stairs without hurting oneself...especially while trying to balance a till and your purse while wearing a heavy winter coat.

Yeah. Not a good time to be had by all.

My father's a carpenter, right, and he took me to see this house he's working on as a curiosity. So we went up to what would be the dining room, and I smacked the piss out of myself when I tried to walk through a glass door. It was too clear to see. Then when we went up on the roof, one story high, I got my foot caught in a scaffolding and nealy wet my pants. Luckily he was near the chimney, checking something else.

Well, when I was 7 we went to America. It was the first time in my memory that I had been there. So obviously screen doors were a new thing to me. Well one day, my brother walks through them. It takes three people, out of which one was a nuclear scientist and another a doctor, to take AGES to fix it again. As soon as they get it up, my other brother walks through it. OK so now after more baffling its up again. They're about to go home, when I run through it (we were playing a game) and land sprawled against it on the floor...you shoud've seen their faces!

I regularly fall up the stairs and run into door frames reulting in me having to say "ow ow ow" for about ten minutes to make the pain go away.

One of the first days of work I was shown where the drinks were kept (for filling up the fridges) I missed a little step and went flying into loads of cans of stuff...whoops blink.gif unsure.gif

Bloomin' programmers, you should be more like us designers and have naps in the afternoon.

Although I guess that's the difference between the two cultures, when I'm programming I try not to stop for as long as possible because once you're in the zone you know it's going to take you ages to work out what all those variables do again. When I'm doing creative stuff it usually helps to take lots of breaks to come up with new ideas.

mata, buddy, you cant say stuff like that!!??!?!?! If you start blowing the whistle on what is actually construed as 'work' when we're pricing stuff, well you're just going to ruin it for everybody, aren't you? Besides, naps are an integral part of the programmers diet too. So are forums. So is IRC. So is the PS2. So are guitars. So is the fridge ...

Oh absolutely. The whole creative process is based on being able to take breaks and get your mind off of things, that's when you come up with your best ideas. The best animations I've done have all been based on dreams I've had.

Admittedly, I've not had many new ideas while playing Time Crisis 3 yet but it might happen if I keep going at it long enough.

I can see what this has to do with being clumsy and being hurt on stairs.

Really.

I can.
