Right, bear in mind here that we might have people arriving a bit late so any shared taxi ride could get expensive for late-comers.

The taxi ride is about 20/30 mins and costs about 20. That would be split between however many are riding.

I'm thinking that it might be best if I hang around in Winchester to catch anyone who is arriving a bit later in the evening and we can go to the pub and anyone who wants to go see Modular Series I can give directions to to help them get to So'ton and back. I'd rather not leave people wandering aimlessly in Winchester!

Modular Series really are fantastic live, so if people do want to go see them I strongly recommend it. They're just about to start work on their second album too, and I'm hoping that this will be the one that gets them attention. Catch 'em now before they get famous!

I'll have to poke G (the lead singer) next time I see him for not mentioning that he was playing in Southampton when he suggested this...

I've emailed them to see if they know roughly when they are going on stage. It may well be that it's too early for people to get there in time.

... Still, think of it as an extended break from life! smile.gif

Will vote when I know when the gig is, since I have college on that Friday and thus am slightly time-constrained.

As much as it would be great to see them I think I'd rather stay in Winchester cause it's a long drive after getting up at 6.30 to go to work before. So I'm not sure what time I'll get there & will probably be pretty dead. I'll be able to cope with falling into a pub but much more than that! unsure.gif

Everyone seems to know someone in Winchester, it's just one of those places.

I've emailed G to try and find out roughly what time they'll be on stage but I've not had a response yet. I'll let you know when I get more info.

I'll ask him tonight and let you know later or tomorrow. he's utterly dreadful at checking his e-mails so you probably won't hear back from him that way

i can't describe quite how amazing all the new material is *grins*. I heard some of it live last sunday and Chris played me the tracks they've already got recorded last night. (not that i spend a lot of time at their house... *ahem*)

i'm so proud of them *beams*

(if anybody is cheap and doesn't want to take a taxi to the joiners, i'll be getting the bus from winchester (2.40) after college in time for the soundcheck and can show you the way. the joiners is about a 5 minute walk downhill from the bus stop so i can show you where it is, and then you can get something to eat and come back at 8. ahhhh that was more complicated than i meant it to be)

Becca, isn't it time you got yourself your own account on here? wink.gif

Anyway, there you go folks, it sounds like they'll be on at 8, and you've even got the offer of an escort from a very glittery young woman. Becca, what time would you be getting on a bus? It would be really helpful if you could help people get to the gig!

I'm going to have to stay in Winchester to gather around the people who will be staying here. Do those of you who want to go to the gig know where you're going? If you are going to the gig can you arrange where you want to meet between you (I'd suggest by the train station, since that's somewhere where there is easy access to public transport and taxis depending on how you choose to travel).

Anyone who's staying in Winchester on Friday, the plan is to meet in The Railway pub upstairs(the stairs are in the corner to the left when you walk in), I'll be collecting Lea from the bottom of town in the early evening (8pm if I remember correctly, I'll PM you Lea) so I'll get up to the pub as soon as I've got her, probably arriving 8:30ish.

If people fancy meeting at the pub earlier than this then this is the thread to say so in!

Me and Queenie should hope fully be arriving late afternoon early evening friday all being well.but I cant be any clearer than that as it's me who's driving and I've never driven to winchester before the general consensus from people I've spoken to is about 4 to 4 1/2 hours and we'll be leaving here at about 2ish seeing as I got to work in the morning. So will probably see you in the pub.

Fair enough, since Queenie is now getting a lift I'll be aiming for around 8ish at The Railway, upstairs.

SPS and Spacehappy seem to still be up for the gig, if they could contact Jessipuff and eachother to try and sort out how to get there that'd be good.

Cath; there's a huge beanbag upstairs in The Railway. It really is very large indeed for a beanbag.

*curses about snotty (she has a cold) little sister logging out so i have to sign up for my own account*

anyway, i know it's a drag to get to Southampton when everybody else is getting trashed in the Railway. But it would be lovely to have lots of people at the gig from here. I know i'm biased and I have to say it because they're my boys, but the band are amazing and the new material is fantastic. so really, i think you should all come.

i finish college at 1 on a friday. will go home, get changed, top up the glitter and head down to the joiners for soundcheck. I was going to be hanging around in Winchester all afternoon waiting for my lady love to finish her lectures, but alas she is now longer coming to the gig. stop rambling becca. so basically i won't be travelling down from winchester anymore, but am really good at giving directions and helping people.

I will be at the Joiners (141 St Marys Street) with the band and if you can't find it - call me and i will come out and meet you. PM for my mobile number if you want it. If you're getting a taxi, you're sorted because the driver will take you straight there. If you're taking a train to Southampton Central, either get a taxi or walk (t'isn't far). Leave the station by the front and turn left. walk up the hill along Western Esplande and keep going straight along New Road (you'll walk past the guildhall buildings). When you get to the big road junction, turn left down St Mary's Place. walk for a bit until you see the big round boulder things, walk through these and you're now on St Marys Street. turn right and walk about 100 metres and the Joiners is on your left. If you're getting the bus to Southampton - do not get a 9 or 9A - they go round the moon before they get there. Hop on a 47 and it'll take you down to the shopping precinct. Walk down through the main shopping bit and turn left with the road when the bit infront of you gets pedestrianised. walk straight down with parks either side of you. then you get to St Marys Place. when you see the big boulder thingys walk through them, turn right and the joiners is just down there on your left.

actually it's probably not best to follow my directions. either get a taxi from winchester or the train station, or call me when you get to southampton and i'll come out and meet you. You can't really miss me, i'm the little goth girl with the glitter and the bettie page haircut.

I'm so sorry i'm not as helpful as i thought i could have been. let me know if there is anything i can do to make getting there and back easier.

lots of love and glitter

Cheers Becca, that makes my life a lot less complicated. I'd love to be there but it would be rather unfair to leave people wandering around Winchester by themselves! I had a quick chat with Chris a few days ago so he knows that there will be a few people from my forums coming along.

Now just to get G to actually check his email occasionally, I've knocked up an idea for album cover art but he'll never get to see it if he doesn't check his mail. Tsk, lead singers these days, eh?
