We have a new shiny computer ohmy.gif It's a Dell (dry.gif) with XP (biggrin.gif this one has ME) and it's in the basement. Since we have cable, we're getting a router so that both computers can be online at the same time. My dad told us not to download anything other than the basics on the new computer though. =\ I wrote a short story on it (after installing Microsoft Office tongue.gif) and I can't wait till it's hooked to the internet.

(the lady just called, my dad picked up. "hello, this is blahblah from CompUsa" [they're setting up the router for us] and my dad goes "OH YES!" unsure.gif she's like "my, you sound excited.")

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Sorry, that just made me laugh as the subtitle of your thread, very amusing.

SO it has windows ME or XP on it? I heard ME sucks (yes I can hear the snickers in the background tongue.gif). its got a lot of glitches and bad stuff in it. Hopefully you do not have a bad one.

As for XP, I know didley squat on that since I use Win 98 SE--

*ducks from stuff being thrown at me*

...WHAT?!

Ahem...oh yes I was saying...I know very little on XP since I do not use it BUT I heard its pretty reliable happy.gif

Yay!

Everyone says that when they get a new computer. Then two weeks later they've got several gigabytes of junk littered throughout the desktop.

Which one?!? You would be suprised at how much you need to download (or perhaps not) to bring XP up to date. Not a task for 56Kers...

A word to all new computer owners: first update windows, then install antivirus (norton, why not), then install adaware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) ... update both ... THEN you have a new computer built to last ... firewalls optional but good ...

A word to new computers: forgive thine owner for he/she loveth thee really ...

Oh, we had to name them, so the ol' geezer here is Waldo. The one downstairs is Delia (Dad tried to name it "Dad's Dell Dude." Even without the spaces, it didn't take.) I was going to name this one Stupid, but the guy from CompUSA was here, so tongue.gif
