I'm not really very curious about this at the moment, I don't want to sleep yet and I've not much else to do. Myself, I'm a night owl and I don't get enough sleep. My psychiatrist prescribed me a sleeping pill, but even that doesn't work sometimes. I can almost never sleep when I'm supposed to, only otherwise. If I don't take my vitamins, I don't get enough iron and collapse all over the place. I love sleeping. I take naps all the time. However, I like staying up late too. Darn that I can't be nocturnal, it'd be more comfortable - I like sleeping during the day more, and it's easier. Plus...*starts singing "I Love the Night"*

I stay up 'till seven or eight in the morning when I can. Usually I sleep until late, if I can't I try to go to bed earlier, like one or two.

Generally with school I need to be in bed by three so I can be up by seven. It sucks, and it's the only issue I have with school, that I have to get up early. I never have enough sleep during school terms, but during the weekends and holidays I just revert back to my natural sleeping pattern and everyhting is fine. I like going to bed at sunrise and getting up at about five in the evening, but I missed most of summer that way, so next summer holidays I'll probably make an effort to be around during the day.

I can't sleep unless its around 3-4. Otherwise I just sit there and stare at the celing. The downside is I'm not allowed to use the comp after 1am so I usually read or go downstairs for late night TV and Videos.

Then I wake up at 6. So I get a round 2-4 hours sleep a night. Yay... dry.gif

I voted just get enough sleep but it's hard to say. I'm usually getting into bed about 12 every night and then I'll be up at 8 most mornings. The problem is that I suffer from ummm...the only way I know how to explain it is periodic insomnia. So I'm kinda used to being perpetually tired.

Getting to sleep isn't a problem, but staying asleep is. I'll wake every hour or so and then be awake for about 20 minutes before falling back asleep again. This happens about 6 days a week and then randomly, I'll just crash out big time and sleep for 12 hours straight. Apparently, I'm impossible to wake when this happens and it's been like that for many years.

I wonder is should worry about that? Has anyone here heard of anything like it before?

Ohh yes. That's another problem with my sleeping pill. One night I didn't take it, I woke up every hour. On the nights I do take it, 8 out of 10 times I'll wake up at some ungodly hour and not be able to sleep until when I am supposed to be up. ><

At uni I usually get to bed at 2-4am and occasionally (like a few times a month) just dont bother sleeping...usually if I try going to bed earlier I just lie there and cant sleep so its not even worth trying to go to bed earlier. Usually up about 9am so thats 7-5 hours of sleep.

Im kinda an occasional (well, more often than not) insomniac and it sucks, especially at home cos the noise of the computer/TV or light from my door keeps other people awake so im pretty much forced to go to bed early and be unable to sleep mad.gif

Urgh....haven't been able to sleep hardly at all for the past week. Sleeping pills, anxiety meds, booze, breathing exercizes, hot milk, baths,....nothing works....maybe if I take them all together??? Unsure how safe that is...

Insomnia always happens to me at this time of year. So I nap in the afternoons when I can... and then, of course, my stupid neighbor (I live in rez) doesn't know how to set an alarm clock and it goes off at 1:30 AM...one of those stupid metal mechanical alarms, with the two bells and the little &*%$ing hammer...and she wasn't there to turn it off...so after 5 minutes I called Security on her ass and got them to go into her room and turn it off....I hope they give her a pink slip or something....I feel mean towards her.... sorry 'bout the rant!

My classmates in art class are making final art projects about university students' lack of sleep...maybe the profs will take notice and have pity on us.

I used to suffer from insomnia so I try to keep the time I go to bed, and get up, the same all the time. I often wake up tired but I think it's psychological because that only occurs monday to friday, when I haveto get up to go to work - saturday and sunday I'm fine! smile.gif

I'm quite nocturnal (which really gets to some people) and, thankfully, I need olny a few hours of sleep and if I need some later, I can always catnap. If I get too much sleep at a time, I'm actually more tired.

I remember reading somewhere that the human body, if left to it's own devices, and devoid of pattern forming stimulus (like daybreak and sunset) will naturally adjust to a 27 hour day.

Which explains why most folk don't get enough sleep, as we don't actually get tired until 3 hours past our bedtime.

I make myself get to bed 'round 11:00 at night...and my mom wakes me up at 7:30. I still have a human alarm clock--good thing too, cause no machine can wake me. I'm still tired after 8 1/2 hours, but it's good enough...just wait for the weekends when 13 hours is available for sleep time.

That's actually really cool, J-man. Do you think that companies could use that to their advantage by having their emplayees in an underground or sealed workplace a la Resident Evil?

If left to sleep whenever I want I usually go to sleep around 6 a.m. and wake up around 5 p.m. However due to school this is kind of impractical, so I'm forced into bed at around 10 p.m. and wake up at around 6:30 - 7:00 which sucks.
The most annoying thing about being sent to bed at 10 is that I often just can't sleep, so I end up staring at the celing from then till two or three o'clock. I would get up and do something, but then my parents would rant at me, occasionally I read, write or draw in bed but it dosen't really help much and my parents would rant at me for that too, the irritating rant-bunnies.
If I haven't fallen asleep by the time it gets light, I usually just get up, but I can only last about 35 - 40 hours before falling asleep after that, so I end up going to sleep in the afternoon which screws up my body clock even more.

When i don't actually have to get up for anything i usually go to sleep when i'm tired and get up when i get bored of snoozing, when i have to get up early for something i usually only become tired after my alarm clock goes off....which is a pain in the arse

even during the holidays i'm up by 9. the morning is always just so much nicer. if i don't get up early, i feel like i've wasted the whole day.

I always used to be like that, until after my GCSEs when I had nothing to do all day everyday so I just lay in bed until 11 then after my AS levels I started sleeping until 11 and then after my A levels I just started sleeping until whenever, unless I had to get up.

If I have something to do on a particular day I always get up by about 9 so I can sit around and wait for it so that I don't miss it by sleeping.

I adore the morning and I regret not getting a job, so I had a reson to get up and didn't get into bad habits and also...think how much money I would have got by now, even if I'd spent it all I'd be better off than I am now...have more clothes or something and be less dependant on my parents. Ok now I'm ranting about money, sorry unsure.gif

I have to work with the old Human Alarm Clock - other things will wake me up, but I have low blood pressure while I sleep so if something wakes me up suddenly I'll be feeling bad for the next hour to two hours - It's ok if someone else wakes me up as long as they do it gently

I can't really function properly unless I get a lot of sleep, which I never do. I usually can't get to sleep till 1 or so, and I wake up around 7 for school. On weekends I usually sleep for about ten hours, but even then I'm still tired.
