As of three days ago, I've decided to quit smoking. I ran out of cigs than had Spiffy and my brother yell at me. This prompted me to get off my ass and quit. It's actually pretty easy for the most part. There are times, however, when I go insane for a pack of Camel Lights. I'm afraid of gaining even more weight than I already have (I hit the two-bill mark about fifteen pounds ago) but hopefully I'll get my cardio back and not have my car smell like cigs.

Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers.

I've heard that lolipops (the small little dum dum ones) and baby carrots are great for when you're quitting smoking.

*hugs*

it's about time you quit.

Good for you *hugs*

I gave up smoking years ago, once the first week passes all of the nicotine is out of your system but the whole habit/ritual thing is the tricky bit. I just tried to avoid situations that really made me desperate to smoke until I'd passed that stage though, which did help - and cut down on my alcohol consumption too!!

Good luck! smile.gif

I'm gonna feel so bad smoking around you now...but I will not be tempted by your temptation to ask me for a cigarette the next time I see you. So.. don't even ask.

I've heard grapefruit juice helps... Ruby Red I would say, it's not as bitter.

Good luck! I'm sure you can do it, just hang in there!

I posted that I'd given up in the Smoking thread in Issues so I know how ya' feel. It's 14 days and counting for me. It isn't easy but it isn't that hard. I hate going to pubs right now though sad.gif

Gaining weight isn't a major problem. You should only put on around 4lbs which isn't difficult to shift. Anymore than that might be down to eating a heck of a lot more as you get your taste buds back. The nack is to not replace ciggies with food, specifically chocolate....mmm...chocolate! biggrin.gif

I quit christmas.... for the second time...smoked since I was 15-ish... quit on my 21st birthday for 4 months... (which was fairly easy tbh) and quit again christmas.. which was a case of 'I don't smoke anymore' not looked back...

The hardest part about giving up smoking is getting over the 'It'll be really hard to quit' stigma (or this is my belief)

I once heard a comic say, "Quitting'll kill me faster than cigarettes ever could!" With some of the stress going down now, I sometimes really want a ciggie. BTW, Aislinn, thanks. You're such a sweetie. happy.gif
