Because I'm a dork and it is now... 7:30-ish and I'm bored, I decided to go back to the BEGINNING of the forum. I've read a great deal of them over the last couple days... well, most of each thread. The first thing that made me sad was the fact that everything in those early early days when members were all below 100 in their numbers, everything seemed so much... happier? No, not happier, maybe just more fun. I wish funner were a word. For instance, I was reading one that started out as a request for a chat room, and then started in a sword/spork fight... when do WE ever have spork fights, dammit? I think everything just seems so much more serious now. Like everything's organized and settled in. But that makes me sad.
The second thing that made me sad was the fact that all those cool Member 34 people are gone. With the exception of a few, most dropped off at between 7 and a couple hundred posts, never to return again. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?! They seemed so... neat, and not that everyone here isn't awesome, but where did they go? The FOUNDERS of the Other Side forums are gone... *sniffle*
Going back to the early days when I wasn't here made me nostalgic for some reason, even though I didn't wittness any of it. It made me wish that I had joined earlier, I mean, I COULD'VE, I've been coming to matazone since for-freakin'-ever. Since the site's own beginning. But here I am... only 8 months old, only been posting for about 4 of those months, and in some respects I missed some of the best days. Man I suck.
Anyway, I wrote this in honor of the lost members, who don't come back anymore, probably never will, but we will always remember them for as long as there's a Beginning option. *Sigh*

bah humbug .. you can't go back to the green. No sense in missing what you never saw in the first place ... besides, a healthy amount of original posters are still around, and that really IS remarkable ... You got Mata, Gerbil, SuperKathoid (a bit), MAtt (a bit), LadyDarkPeach(I think) ravein, Jicama, Lolo, Missy, oobunnie(somewhat), jonman (after a fashion), Tigerlily, Inky, Leo (just doesnt post much), cheese, poppa.moo, tara, Lil'Pie Fairy, Jaq, Spacehappy, tarantio (kinda), SPS, the Fuzz-rah, LOD, Cthulhu(amazed he started so long ago), Oni, Tortured Soul, Phoenix, Syuu, Elf (if you like), Porce, Weej, Queenie, Candice and Dark Inferno ... not allowing for name changes and stuff, and all from the first 3 months. Not bad (if slightly optimistic) ...

Hehe, I liked your (a bit) (after a fashion) (if you like)s.

I dig it *sigh* but I do so wish we could have a spork fight every once in a while. It just seemed so nice...

Would you say a spork was more like a fork or a spoon?

Me and my friends used to always have this discussion after making a melted plastic spork sculpture.

Anyone got any anti-spork air missles?

Pff, Pab, in a fight with me? You don't stand a chance rolleyes.gif

*Takes out her sword... spork-with-a-rapier-handle and jabs it at Pab's tummy*
Take that!

Oh, and a spork is more a fork without any holes. It would be more like a spoon... but it has points and spoons should not have points under any circumstances.

GAH! If I would've KNOWN we were using cheesey cliches, I would've won. And when were we at an airport... or near planes at all?! You cheat tongue.gif

I'll get you next time, Pab, you just wait! (own cheesey line)

*Uses Rapier Spork to cut bungee line and falls down gracefully into some bushes, waiting for the moment when Pab will walk by, only to be sliced to pieces by her spork. THEN she will have her revenge ph34r.gif *

I think not!
*Just as Ravein runs toward her, she moves a foot to the left and tries to poke Ravein in the back with Rapier Spork*
*Unfortunately, Rapier Spork is made out of plastic, and one of the points bends up*
Curses!
*stands helplessly, trying to put the point back in place*

*comes in the house from weeding her garden just to see if the fight has progressed*

OOF! One hit me in the eye! That stings! How dare you?!

*Fortunately, Rapier Spork is made distincly for cafeteria food and the like! Grabs olives off the ground and catapults them at Ravein 3 at a time (would've been 4 but one of my points is bent back)*

Take that... and that!

I identify with your sentiment, acid_rain_child. I lost my member in a freak threshing accident some years ago, and I mourn it yet.

*reads thread*

Oh, right. Sorry.

If I think about it, if I hadn't got a wee bit drunk and broken my ankle, I never would have found this place wink.gif hinsley took me in one day when I used Google to find LGG (something Mat had originally showed me a long time ago. I think he originally found this place from B3ta once) and ended up getting stuck here with you lot tongue.gif

Hmmm... nowadays matazone people seem a lot more... serious than before. It scares me blink.gif

However, sporks are evil and I do not wish to discuss them. ph34r.gif

And now I know about sporks, and their uses as deadly weapons...

Despite my deceiving member number, I've actually known of Mata's work... Well, since forever. Since before matazone.co.uk was born, even, I think. Back when his little website was something random with little 'submit' buttons everywhere just for the Hell of it, and the little monster worked in a small bookshop and first thought me and my friend were called Sarah, because every goth girl he was meeting at the time was called Sarah.

*tries to look smug. Fails*

But forums have always scared me as I was too terrified to join in case I couldn't keep up with all the topics and such. I joined because Mr Man-of-Fuzz told me to, and I kept losing his email address. I decided to start posting because I didn't have a lot going on.

None of the above was about sporks. I feel unclean.

You aren't the only one who noticed this? LOL I know I probably was more crazy then but what can you do *shrugs* some people in my opinion go all serious out of nowhere and suddenly get offended easily. I've seen it happen on a few forums wherther being on one or just reading.

Saying that, when people posted silly things 'back in the old days' it would have been seen as a bit of fun. Now its just spam.
Although you can't compare sporks with 'my cats breath smells of catfood, wheee! look at me type crap that isn't funny...'
