I was checking out this alternative press site and I fount this:

What in the living hell is this? The company calls itself Rednek but I couldn't find it online. I highly doubt this is a coincidence. I figured I'd bring it to the board's attention to see what the deal is on this.

I have that on a t-shirt, and I actually had that shirt a little bit before I knew about Matazone, so it's probably just a coincidence. It's just a relatively common phrase/sentiment, because I know there also used to be a website called conformobeyconsume.net, and I see it a lot of other places too...

And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin,
When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall,
Then how should I begin
To spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways?
And how should I presume?

Various arrangements of the phrase have been around for years. I think I might have picked it up subconsciously at some point during my life from somewhere else, because I know that a very similar thing turned up in a John Carpenter film during the 1980s, called 'Them'.

It's a pretty normal reaction to the increasingly big brother style society we live in, so it's not to hard to believe that more than one person came up with the same terms by themselves.

'Them' is a good film, I can't remember the classification for it, but if you're old enough then I highly recommend it. It also has one of the most brutal and lengthy punch-ups ever filmed, mainly because the actors actually ended up really fighting each other.

Wow, I'm really sure it was just coincidence. I mean, the words "conform", "consume", and "obey" are not only catchy, but they adequately describe what's going on in society from the point of view of... uh... people like us. Unfortunately and sort of ironically, if the phrase gets too popular, it will back fire on itself and be completely useless. I give it another year or so, so no worries.

Hehe, that's cute that you're worried about us youngin's watching bad films. *checks google* Okay, the only movie called 'Them' that's coming up is one from 1954, and back when they didn't have ratings I don't believe, and they never bothered to give it one, so it's not so bad.

My mistake, it's 'They Live', http://www.theofficialjohncarpenter.com/pa...vies/tl/tl.html

As I've said in other places, I'm not in the deal of getting people to do things that are illegal or not suitable for them. I'm sure pretty much every person in the western world has seen a film that is not recommended for their age group before they are supposed to, but the classifications are there for reasons and I'd rather not be accused (further) of corrupting people!

I believe he saw some of thoes words when he was walking in the city after discovering the glasses? ...good times.

I also believe that was the film with the longest fight scene....

...and the scene was also parodied by South Park with the Cripple Fight episode...I think they copied all the cuts and dialogue....(play em side by side)

...but I could be wrong >.>;;

Hinsley... wow. You worship Mata? I mean, I respect him a great deal and all, but jeez. Whatever floats your boat smile.gif .

Mata, this is off topic, but how do you feel when people say stuff like that? I don't think I'll ever reach goddess status with anyone, let alone a mass of people, so I gotta know what it's like to have all these people *points to matazonians* thinking you're all that and a bag of chips/crisps? I mean, do you bask in your godliship or what? Just wondering, because I guess you get all sorts of PMs and emails like that all the time.

Yes, 'Them!' is the film with giant ants. I believe that they were made that way by nuclear testing, causing them to mutate and decide to attack trailers for little apparent reason. Fortunately flame throwers still work on them and humans aren't all eaten alive, despite the fact that we all know ants are nearly indestructable and we would be eaten in no time.

Praise: I tend to say 'thanks' and then treat the person saying it like anyone else. If it gets too far out of hand I ask the person to relax. It's a bit odd, but it's happened enough now that I'm getting more used to knowing how to stop people doing it quite quickly... Well, I am face to face, on the net people are very good at ignoring me and keep on doing it!

Many a happy childhood afternoon with a can of deodourant and a lighter proved to me that ants are not, in fact, indestructable. They're very very destructable. Certainly poppable in any case. Likewise for a magnifying glass on a sunny day.

While I'm on the topic, so are wasps.

Apparently, this means I'm going to become a sociopathic serial killer at some point.

What do you mean 'going to be'? I thought you were... Or is that me getting confused between computer games and reality again?

*polishes chainsaw*

Okay, anyway, giant ants are nearly indestructable. Especially ones that don't have that pesky body weight/leg strength problem, like the ones in the film.

A visit to your favourite local emulation website ought to prove to you that giant ants are susceptible to hand grenades. Especially ones that live in small isometric, block-based cities, and hold a single captive, who's always of the opposite gender to you.

Well, I would count 'needing a hand-grenade exploding at close quarters to stop it' to be, in terms of biological entities, pretty damn tough. Perhaps 'nearly indestructable' would be an exageration, but then again, you do have to wonder about the accuracy of the simulation. That's just a game, the films are real life.
