So, I was looking at the back of my head in the mirror the other day to check my hair, and it reminded that I have a birthmark. I never think about it... obviously 'cause I can't see it, but I have a silver lock of hair square in the back of my head. It's been there since I was born, and my mother always took pride in it. I've been told it means things like I'm the devil's spawn, and that in the middle ages as a baby I would've been killed because it links back to witch craft. Once, when I was 5, I remember a mother of one of my friends told me it was very special (whatever that means). Recently I've been getting more gray hairs in random places on my head, namely what would be my bangs if I cut them. I refuse to dye my hair because of grays, but if I look like an old woman in my 20's we're going to have some problems!

So, what birthmarks do you have? Any skin marks that look like countries? Silver locked people? Just curious. Do they bother you? Do they make you look better (like a mole or something)?

I have a dime-sized ovalish birthmark on my left upper arm, but that's all. No really nifty birthmarks for me. tongue.gif

I had this weird thing that was around the area of my right ear. No idea what it was - kind of looked like orange peel. It was horrible. They tried lazer treatment on it but it just seemed to make it worse, so they just sliced it off - probably about 8 - 10 years ago. I've got a nice little scar from it. Hated the birthmark, like the scar. One day someone will believe me when I tell them it's from where I have part of brain removed, dammit.

I'd actually forgotten all about it until this thread. It seems like a strange thing to forget about...

At the time, my sister used to make all sorts of jokes about keeping it in a jar. I still expect to receive a manky piece of skin pickled in a jar when I'm fifty...

I've got a couple of brownish splotches on my legs, but my favourite birthmark is a freckle-like birthmark in the middle of the webbing between my first and middle finger. A close friend of mine has longish, really dark hair, with a streak of white going down the side. It looks really neat. A kid in my martial arts school has large spots of white in his hair, and it just makes him look like a dalmation. ^^

I have a birthmark that resembles a third nipple. It's above and to the right of my right one, but it's the same size and dark brown. It feels like rubber.

It's pickling nicely and I think it's had babies... tongue.gif

I have an L shaped mark on my bicep. It looks like dried chocolate.

I also have a mole on my right thigh - it's perfectly round and about a centimetre in diameter. Apparently, you can never trust a women with a mole on her right thigh... wink.gif

I have a birthmark on the retina of one eye. The specialist found it when I got contact lenses. huh.gif
The only other truly odd thing is I have two osteocyts. A bone cell that decided to grow a bit. So in clearer terms - I've a small bump on both sides of my head. I tell those who find them that they are where my horns are growing in. biggrin.gif
Yes, a doctor's checked 'em and tells me they're harmless.

I've got what is probably a birthmark on my neck, but I never noticed it until middle school when nasty girls started pointing it out and saying that it looked like a hicky. rolleyes.gif So, I've got a perma-hicky

ohmy.gif I didn't know so many people had the silver strand! My hairs dark brown, not black, though.

I noticed that when I thread my fingers together, the moles on my right handed pointer finer and the moles on my left middle and pointer finger (all the same size) make a perfect triangle. Weird... maybe I am the devil's spawn laugh.gif

Jaq, the perma-hickey has to be terrible! Is it a yellowing out hickey or a lumpy purple one?

ForU, wow... that's the oddest birthmark I've ever heard of! I would've kept it in a jar if I were you, just as a conversation piece. Once the back of my earing went in my ear, and they had to cut open my ear to get it out. I have that in a jar, it's always worth freaking people out.

Ashbless, I'm diggin' the horns tongue.gif

And Mutilation, I've always wanted to know what those 3rd nipples felt like, thanks. Do they have any sensation or what? Sorry about any typos, but I'm trying to type quietly as not to wake the whole house up.

I have a mole on the back of my neck and a massive slightly-darker-than-the-rest-of-my-arm coloured "splodge" on my arm where my mum says "I pulled a mug of tea down onto myself when I was about 2". And a mole on my knee, who has been named "Nemo" (Knee mole, you see tongue.gif nothing to do with the lil clownfish lol. And I didnt name it, honest >.<)

I have a white lock of hair at the back of my head, too. It's about an inch long and it grows from where the doctors had to stick a brain-wave monitor into the back of my head just before I was born.

I once knew a friend who, apparently, kept his blood clots in a jar (he had hypoglycaemia or something like that. I'm not quite sure). He used to throw them at passers-by. Suffice to say, he wasn't the nicest of lads.

hmmm...I have a big mole on my left thigh, it's a multicoloured splodge that I've had since I was born.

I have a splodgy pink, almost skin coloured now, birthmark on my left cheek. When I was little it used to be alot more obvious, almost bright red, and kids at school weren't nice about it...I think maybe it's one of the reasons I'm so paranoid about it, my family say it's unnoticable unless you're looking for it but I can see it clear as day when I look in the mirror. I guess it's psychological.

I have several moles, but my favorite one is a rather larger one somewhere in the middle of my back. Either that or on my shoulder blade. Or both. I can never remember. In any case, to me, it's very attractive there. I don't have any birthmarks aside from that.

Blah. I dont like birth marks. But I have two I like! Or three! Hmmm.... okay, well there was one on my back that my dermatologist cut off because he thought it might be cancerous, it looked nasty anyway, it was all dotty looking.... turned out to be nothing, but I have a nice scar there now! Its circular and it has thinner skin there so its not level with the rest of my skin, I tell people that someone put a cigarette out on me.... it lookes like it, a nice burn mark, yum

Also on my hip there's a red mark I've had since I was born. I rather like it, its ovalish and pink and when my mom took me to the doctors for a checkup a little after I was born they thought she was beating me and almost took me away from her! I love the story. Its just a birthmark though.... its fading.... *frown* Its almost a brown-ish peach color now, sadness!

Theres also a mole on my left ring finger, its sortah line-y, it goes with my fingerprint, its a bit odd. Dermatologist also wants to cut that one off, but since there's really no skin there I would have to get plastic surgery and BLEH! I almost passed out when they cut the thing off my back, I dont want plastic surgery! Eeee!! I'm keeping it.

Birthmarks are kind of annoying though.

Hmm.. I don't have an odd birthmark.. but I have like.. a little red dot right in between my breasts.. and then another dot that curves to he right.. and I have like.. a semi circle consisting of five little red dot thingys around my right breast. My brother has a heart shaped birthmark on his right upper arm. I've been told that meant 1). he was protected by an angle and 2). He was born by two people who didn't love one another.

I had a big red strawberry mark in the shape of a strawberry on my upper right arm, but it's most faded now. It used to be crimson, but now all of the little blood vessels have spread out and sunk deeper into the flesh, so it's purply and vague.

I've got a weird little brown oval in the middle of my right armpit. And I'm nutorious for having freckles in odd places. I have one in a corresponding place on my other armpit, one on my foot, and a pair on my shoulder that look like vampire bites. I am proud of them all.

I have an odd little birthmark next to my belly button. It's not very obvious anymore as it's faded, but it looks like a paw print or something. According to my sociology class (who insisted on seeing it) it's cute, in a teddy-bear sort of way blink.gif

And snoo, there's nothing wrong with your birthmark. It's not at obvious unless you know it's there, or 2 inches from your face. Besides, even if it is noticed, it's purdy the way it is.

I have a small dark brown mark on the underside of my middle left toe. It's the same one as my mother has - my sister has our father's birthmark.
