Can't get enough time off to see the bands on the days I want sad.gif Besides, the line up isn't as good as other festivals I've already been to and it seems a bit expensive for just a couple of bands. I'm sure it'll be fun for you though if you like who's playing smile.gif

True. I've been to better line-ups, but for me a lot of the fun is just being there and enjoying the atmosphere.

Yeah but IMO it isn't worth 100 just for some fun and a few good bands. This is why I chose Download instead. I loved all the bands (there were too many to see) and the atmosphere is more my thing. The Leeds and Reading festivals don't tend to be as "rock" as Donnington sad.gif I'd go and see The Lost Prophets but I'm not paying 40 just for them.

Whatever floats you boat really. It doesn't float mine. More depth charges it! laugh.gif

Well, Reading's kind of a ritual between me and friends nowadays. There's an relatively decent chunk of bands that I like, and usually we'll go and see them even if we don't know them just because it's good fun. I suppose I'm in the position to be able to go to both, so I do.

And I actually find the atmosphere at Reading far more fun than Donnington. Everyone seems a lot more chilled and ready to have fun. A lot of the people at Donnington were too worried about getting mud on their New Rocks or something. Donnington more for the music, Reading more for the people, I find.

(Although, yes, Saturday at Reading is horrendous, but the people I'm going with live in Reading so it's much easier)

Not with anyone I met this year certainly. Everyone was chilled and enjoying the atmosphere and the music....possibly a little too much in some cases. There were drunk people everywhere passed out. It was hilarious biggrin.gif

I didn't see anyone wearing New Rock but they were selling them in the market area if that's any consolation wink.gif

Heh.

Nah, I just didn't find them quite so friendly, is all. However, on the plus side, nobody walked on my head like they did last year at Reading, so that's a plus (hence my fear of New Rock wearers at festivals - just damn painful).

I would be going to Reading, if it wasn't for one of the people I was meant to be going with turning into an arsehole, and pulling out for no reason. The other one is more in it for the atmosphere than the music, and is dropping out because he doesn't think it will be as good with 1.

If the egit had told us this a month ago, I might have found someone to take his place, or got leeds tickets instead, but I can't afford the prices for Leeds on ebay. Ontop of that, my mum would use her dying influence over me to stop me from going, as, apparently, I don't really know the people I'd be there with, and everywhere beyond the borders of Gloucestershire is populated entirely with evil druggies who'll mug anyone they stumble into. Over-protective idiot.

Next year...

But it's less than a week until I see the white stripes! Live! Hooray!

Kind of annoyed the vines pulled out, I was looking forward to seeing them.
