I have always wondered this, and Gerbil's post in the Kerry/Rosary-Ambush thread where he mentions a black Jewish lesbian president made me think. Since I think that, right now, we would sooner have a black Jewish STRAIGHT woman as president (say, 200 years) as opposed to a lesbian one (say, 700 years), then this is a relevant question! I imagine we would call her "Mrs. President", but what about him, if there was a husband?

The problem with the obvious choice, First Man, is that in Christianity Adam is considered the first man! ;-) Besides, "man" is not the opposite of "Lady." But the First Lord sounds awfully British, doesn't it? I doubt the Yankees would be ok with that. I like "The P.C."

WHAT SAY YOU?

I chose "The President's Husband"

But I really don't know. That's a tough one! Hmmmm.

I always assumed it would be the First Man. But on second thought, that's a bit silly. Oh well.

Mind, it might be "Madam President" not Mrs. President.

I think people wouldn't give it too much thought and since there isn't an official title right now, the most natural thing that would pop into your head would just be to specify his occupation/title. So I think peope would refer to him as "The President's Husband"

Now if it were in GB or Canada it might be Ministerial Consort, or First Lord, but in America I'd guess it would just be Presiden'ts Husband.

Another vote for the President's Husband. Although he would probably just be referred to as Mr. whatever-his-name-is.

SPS, that would only work if we took over the broadcasting systems. tongue.gif Which isn't such a bad idea. evil.gif

Right...the First Gentleman. Or perhaps we could reach into the old titles of nobility? A duke or baron (I like the sound of that...)

I saw Jewish and voted for that.

She'll probably be single...or maybe unmarried, in a relationship? Or...yeah! A nun! That would be so awsome! A nun for president!

I'm going to convince my friend to do exactly that.

And I also intend to run as soon as I'm eligible.

In the year 2024, when I'm age 36.

Look for me on the ballot. I'll be running under the Populist Reform Party ticket.

I don't think a nun could really run for President. It requires a lot of money, and don't they take a vow of poverty?

Meanwhile, I do like the sound of the First Gentleman. It sounds good, without making him sound like royalty. I'm not a fan of bringing back royal titles. What's the point? They *aren't* royalty, they just happen to be married to someone who got elected.

I think it would be First Man. It's simple, and it sounds like a male version of First Lady.

I voted for the Presidential Consort, because nobody else was voting for it and I would just end up calling him "that guy she's with". And P.C. made me laugh for some reason.

I was just thinking that more than likley, if hadn't of been for Bill Clinton getting up to naughties with Monica Lewinsky (sp?), I probably wouldn't have learnt Hillary's (Clinton) first name. Which leads me on nicely to say that I don't actually know Bush Jnr's wifey's name? honest ohmy.gif

But is that just because Hillary was more career minded that the current First Lady?

Maybe the nun could get financed by the Catholic Church? I mean, the Church is the second-largest real estate owner in the world. Right behind McDonalds.

I thought First Gentleman, since - as America has no peerage - it's the gender opposite of Lady.

i prefer the fact that here we would sooner have a DUMBASS black JEWISH lesbian President with an inferiority complex before we would ever have to worry about what to call the guy that a female president is with!
