Right, everything is going from my shop in October 1st 2004.

It is all being passed on to another business on Oct 1st 2004. If anyone wants anything from there then go and buy it _now_ or forever holds your peas.

http://www.matazone.co.uk/shop

I can't hold on to these things any longer than that, this is the end of my online shop, there will be no more, this is it for the full foreseeable future. (I've said that in several ways to try and prevent the usual stream of questions asking if I'll be getting new designs in, or more sizes... NO! I'm not, it's going completely!!).

If you don't get anything you want now then in just over two weeks time you won't be able to and I won't be able to help you. It's as simple as that.

I bought badges! It's kinda pathetic and useless of me, but my overdraft is killing me right now. Besides. I've wanted some badges for ages - they're so fun to lose, after all.

Well, it has been there for nearly three years now, so I was figuring that most people on here would have perhaps got around to buying things that they wanted...

Cheers smile.gif Yep, in the UK things often get to people within 48 hours, the US is about one to two weeks, although I have occasionally had ones get there within four days, which is pretty blooming impressive I reckon.

I'm curious, brodie. Why did you decide to close the shop down?

Oh, and, if you know, what are the differences between American sizes and UK sizes? Are they smaller? I'm fat. Will I be able to fit into an XL?

I have no idea about T-shirt size differences, I assume they're pretty similar.

As for why it's gone (yep, gone now, it'll be weird without it)...

The reason is simple: a small but well organised company is taking over distribution and production of my merchandise.

The 'why' is more complicated, but essentially boils down to this:

I've been dealing with customers, T-shirt printers, packing, and sending my T-shirts for nearly three years, every single day and I'm very bored of doing this. It takes a long time to do and these days I have a lot more things that demand my time (not least of which is my PhD thesis) so I need to regain these hours of my day.

The stock takes up half of my already-very-small office and I need the space for books for the PhD.

The T-shirts made enough money to covering the hosting of the site but very little more. Would you want to spend several hours per day of your life doing something just so other people could watch your animations for free? That's like working, then when you've finished doing some more work so you're allowed to work again the next day. It just doesn't make sense, and now I've got another option I have to take it.

I might make more money this way, so I could actually profit from selling things to do with my animations rather than breaking even after the site hosting costs. More money, less work, you do the maths!

So... There will be T-shirts of my characters made eventually, but the licensor has decided to initially focus on the Little Goth Girl. Other characters will be supported in the future, but for the moment she's the only one around on anything and currently they are only licensed to distribute to the UK. There are talks of US distribution but I would be very surprised if anything happened before next year.

Strangel, when I told my mother, she offered that hypothesis. She figured the time and labor weren't worth the money and apparently she was right.

So will there be any way for those of us on this side of the pond to get ahold of any of these tees? I'm starting to make money more steadily and want to buy more Matazone merch.

What kind of distribution are you talking about? A lot of stores? A few stores? Hot Topic (please, Lord God)? I would find it stoking to see a Little Goth Girl or Samurai Lapin tee at Hot Topic and jump up and down pointing and screaming, "I know that guy! I know that guy! He's awesome!"

The money was okay because it did what I needed it to do, and the site occasionally got me work from other companies and I've been living off of that money. It's not a great way to make a living but it works.

As for the availability of the new stuff to the US... I'm not sure. I'm anticipating that at least some of the retailers must have websites, so I'm guessing you'll be able to order from them, but I can't yet tell you who any of these people are.

I'm hoping to get a merchandise license arranged for the US. Currently the license only covers Europe, but the company who has licensed the characters have had dealings with Hot Topic before and believe that they will be interested. I'd like to emphasise that absolutely nothing is certain on this subject and all of this is just hopes for the future.

Please!

That doesn't mean I won't be praying twice daily that something along those lines will happen. Hell, I already pray twice daily for this place, so it won't put too much of a crimp in my life.

What exactly is New Look, Snuggs? It it like a trendy-type store over on that side of the pond?

EDIT: Saying I pray for Matazone, does that make me sound like an utter fanboy?

They still have stuff in Stinky Fish! I saw today. I was very tempted to buy stuff but had to resist as I'm poor. But I got to sound all important when telling my friend why it was all being discontinued.

So, that's the place to be, folks.

Kind of - it's a nasty little chain of shops that sell cheap, badly made mass produced clothes.

Makes sense. What about Stinky Fish? Is it like an alternative clothing store?

Yesh. A lovely little place in my home town, started out as a little stall-type-thing but now has a proper shop, which I often refuse to frequent as it makes my wallet somewhat lighter and less happy.

I feel you, ForU. I shopped at this one place called Spencer's prodominantly when I worked there only because I got the employee discount. Otherwise, I would have blown my whole paycheck.

I got my tees today! I could feel it in my gut. I really could. I saw the mailcarrier back up to my postbox apologizing because he forgot a few letters. He then said, "There's something else in there." "A package?" "Yeah." I then started giggling like a sissy-wussy girl, grabbed the mail, ran inside, threw all the letters aside and tore the bag to shreds to reveal these bless├ęd tees. I'll bet twenty bucks Rick's gonna be pissed he didn't order one, too.

Ah, that new tee shirt smell...
