Just a compliment on a few avatars.

Mata - teach me to log in late at night. The first change I observed gave me a start. Excellent job.
SPS - purring! Thanks for the smile.
Mata
This change was the result of a conversation in the mods forum about a rather conspiracy-theory inclined member which put me in mind of John Carpenters's 'They Live'. I decided it might be fun to mess with the avatar I've had for ages to make it a bit more interesting and mess with people's heads a little! I'll probably change it again in a few days, but it's been fun while it lasts!

Well, while the idea was mine, I didn't have the software or the expertise to pull it off, so pab did it

....but the idea was mine! tongue.gif

(it was done in flash btw)

Hey, I've made myself a mouse-interactive Flash avatar, but other than Freewebs which I hate with a passion, I have no means of hosting it. If you can recommend something other then Freewebs, please let me know. It's kinda the same as the one I have now, just mouse interactive...

[edit] My new avatar is up and raring to go...

http://www.photobucket.com provide free image hosting, .swf is also on their list of allowed filetypes I believe.
JimiJimi
Don't worry, I've got it going now...

Cool avatar, Jimi!
Mata
For future reference, am I right in thinking that photobucket only hold things online for about a month?

Wow, CommieBastard complimented my hard work! I feel... what's the word? Priveleged?

Meh, whatever the word is.

But Commie is a moderator! A moderator! A superior! Complimented me!

Also, I'm feeling generous, so if anyone wants an avatar like mine just send me the two images of whatever and I'll see what I can do.

Also, Commie has cool rockstar hair. Assuming that his avatar is of him...

Hmm, my avatar has been hosted there for over six months. I believe that's just the inactivity timeout (ie. if none of your photos are looked at for a month the account will vanish). Pretty much every free service on the internet (bar forums and other things where it would not make sense) does the same, otherwise most of their space would be wasted on accounts which are no longer used.

There's a thread here with various options in it:

Give that a try! If you are still having trouble then try posting in the introductions forum about it and I'm sure someone will be willing to help smile.gif

Jimi, nice addition of music, now there are two things to fiddle with, firstly turn down the volume because it's way too loud (you can do this inside Flash, as you probably know) and secondly make it so that there is a little sign that pops up telling you that if you click it again the music stops (and obviously make sure this is true!).

It's now quieter, with little play and stop buttons (although I've decided I don't like them). I also panned it for some reason...

Aw, man... For some unknown reason all the flash avatars don't work on my computer. Do you all have Flash 7?

You bet we do!

Well, I do anyway...
Sir Psycho Sexy
There's a 7? ooh I only have 6, something I missed in my updating spree!! tongue.gif

G'nammit! I've got to stop myself from changing my avatar so often. Now it's some weird guitar playing guy I made. The music is Yngwie Malmsteen.
Mata
I rather like this one. How big is the .swf file? (Out of curiousity, not out of 'have you been putting huge avatars on my forum' mod rage)
arachnidoc17
Blast you, JimiJimi!

All I ever see from your avatar is "Movie not loaded" in gray font...
JimiJimi
To Mata, it's 60k ish. To arachnidoc, I have no idea what the problem is.

Also, I'm fairly pleased with the avatar. There are a few things I'd want to tweak (his arms are fairly long) but can't be bothered. And I'm fairly pleased Mata likes my avatar.
