So, we have your favourite movies, and your worst movies and your quotes.

I'm looking to the best bits. Even with the really crap movies, now and again a certain scene just does it for you. Off the top of my head I have two. I know that I have many more, but these are the obvious starters:

Fight Club: Meat Loaf with tits. Who can resist.

Bridget Jones' Diary: The fight between Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Purly because it's a proper drunk englishman fighting. It's not macho. It looks silly and everyone is drunk. You can't lose with that.

So that's my knee jerk choice, what's yours?

The Godthumb:
The scene where one munute you see the kitten on the God-thumb's desk, the camera turns away, and when it turns back the God-Thumb is slurping up the kitten's tail, which is the only part of the kitten visible.
"Bring me another kitten."

"But...why is the rum gone?"

The scenes in Caddyshack where Rodney Dangerfield bets the owner of the course that he'd slice. "And, I never slice". and he does, and "Bet you 100 buck you miss that putt."

There are so many classic scenes in Pulp Fiction that I can't name just one - the scene in which they don't get shot, the scene with the Wolf, the opening scene in which they discuss the differences between Europe and America and foot massages, the gimp scene... the list goes on.

Every musical scene in South Park: Bigger Longer, and Uncut is brilliant.

The schwartz scene and and Yogurt scene in Spaceballs was great.

And don't even get me started on the many many classic scenes in Monty Python's Holy Grail. The knights who say "Ni," the Black Knight, the Castle Anthrax, Tim the Conjurer, the Bunny, the witch trial, the Camelot music scene, the conversation with God, the sonversation with the peasents, the Frenchmen, the swallows, the coconuts, the bridge of trials, the historian.

pfft....using a Monty Python movie is a cop out, we're talking about good BITS in not so great movies, not great movies full stop, there's a difference

The ending of Terminator 3 was one of the best endings I've seen in a big action movie. It was so good it made an average film seem really good. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it...

Roy Batty's death speech in 'Blade Runner' is a classic moment in cinema.

In 'The Crow' when Lee's character sets fire to the crow he's made on the ground with lighter fluid.

LOTR: Ian McKellan shouting 'YOU SHALL NOT PAAAAAASS!'

Any scene ever thats features Ian McKellan.

The very early shot in 'Underworld' when the main vampire jumps off a building, the way she lands and keeps on walking is very, very cool.

Vin Diesel going head-to-head with an alien thing in 'Pitch Black' and breaking it's neck.

The chestburster scene. (If you need to know the film then you haven't seen it (or probably any other films).)

The start of Happy Gilmore. Childish, I know, but it still makes me laugh.

Vincent Prices the Raven: when ever they start fighting and lasers come out of their fingers.

Brotherhood of the Wolves: the first scene where the two fellows beat the heck out of the other men. And just about any other scene that goes slow motion in the frenchy way. And the bone sword bit rocked.

Spongebob Square pants : any scene with David Haselhof (sp?) simply because its him.

Harry Potter (3):The entire knighs bus bit was great.

I didn't like that ending at first. Probably because I hadn't been overly impressed by the film (but I absolutely love T2), and then it ended with a twist that implied a possible sequel. And yet clearly, a sequel is most certainly out of the question - at least, one with Arnie anyway.

But... I like it now.



Ditto that! The scene at Weathertop <sp?> was great, too - because it was so much like how I imagined it. And then Gandalf on the bridge later on really made me love that movie... even if it did stray from the book a bit

oh my god, don't remember the exact words but the guy with the accent in Little Shop of Horrors said something like "SHUT UP YOU BOTANICAL BEAST, YOU AINT GETTING NO FEEDING TODAY, ESPECIALY NOT FROM DOCTOR SMOOZHVICK" man, we laughed about that for ages. Such a funny film...

And done in heels too. Very hard to accomplish, so I hear.



Reminded me - the part in Little Shop of Horrors where Steve Martin first makes his appearance - the song he sings as he is abusing his patients. Makes me laugh like a lunatic every time.

Yeah. And speaking of underworld, the bit at the end with the swords and the head just cracks me up. Same for equilibrium. There's something about people's heads falling apart that is just hilarious.

Oo yes, that Nightcrawler scene is a very stylish piece of cinema.

Great stuff. That film/play has a great deal of brilliant moments, especially considering that it's a musical!

Oob, the native American guy in Brotherhood of the Wolf is Mark Dacascos, a very cool Haitian martial artist. He was also the main guy in 'Crying Freeman' and 'Drive', the latter being one of my favourite martial arts movies, which reminds me:

Mark Dacascos managing to keep a straight face in 'Drive' while doing the 'come on' hand gesture seen in every martial arts film... With boots on his hands.

Oh oh! The scene in Interview with a Vampire with "There's life in the old woman yet!" is classic. Not in the book, but a good addition.

Interview with the Vampire where Louis is sitting in deep thought staring at the flame of the candle he is holding while Lestat pelts him with grapes. I love that scene beyond all reason.

Time for a few golden oldies:

Jimmy Stewart attempting to introduce his invisible friend Harvey, a 6ft tall rabbit, to a psychiatrist. It's an absolutely classic scene, and should be seen by everyone. (From 'Harvey')

Orson Wells stepping from the shadows in 'The Third Man'.

Cary Grant diving to avoid the plane in 'North By Northwest'.

Robert Mitchum explaining the 'love' and 'hate' tattoos on his knuckles in 'Night of the Hunter'. Also from the same film the bit where he's standing outside the good woman's house at the end of the film, singing his song in the shadows... It's just incredibly spooky! It also becomes a moment of revelation when the woman joins in with the full lyrics... A great film, but that bit is stunning.

While I think of it, not an old one, but _that_ scene from the Japanese horror film 'Ring', which was done in a way that is absolutely more terrifying than the American version.

On the theme of horror, has anyone else seen the Korean horror film 'The Eye'? It's absolutely fantastic! It borrows from loads of other horror films, but melds them all into something new. I like the bit in the classroom, if you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about.

Has anyone mentioned the final shot from 'Fight Club' yet? When The Pixies' chords come in you just know you're watching one of the best ever final shots in a film.

I know it's going to sound pretencious, but i love this movie, for all of it's shoddy actresses (Drew Barrymore) and ill-concieved plot twists (Cellar door, though it stuck with me, i find myself every once in a while thinking "Cellar Door" whilst i'm at a friend's house)

The time before the world ends, and the time travel future-light things infront of people...just...completely freaky.

Oh, and The Cube, on this subject of horror. I swear, Commie, you must watch it.

My dad, brother and I think that the funniest part of Happy Gilmore is where he hits the golf ball and it hits the woman in the head and she falls out og the widnow, rolls down the rood and falls off.

Haggard where Ryan Dunn jerks off to his own ass in the mirror. The only reason it's funny is because it's more disgusting than the pie humping in American Pie.

Dazed and Confused where Mike goes on a rant about how he really doesn't want to be an ACLU lawyer like he said he did. His friend Tony then asks, "Well, what do you want to do?" Mike then gets all emotional and says "...I wanna dance!" The other guys in the car then laugh hysterically.

Not quite so funny as it is mind-boggling, but in the same movie, Slater, Pickford and Michelle get high like ten times.

Hmm, in Ring (Japanese vrsion) _that_ scene made me jump the first time I saw it.


In Kingom Come, the scene where the church going mother and her unemployed, smoking son are waiting in his broken down car for a mechanic to come and fix it. Thay've just had a mini argument, and decide to sit and wait quietly for the mechanic.

The son turns on the radio to a hip hop station, the mother turns it to a gospel station, the son turns it back to hip hop, the mother back to gospel. This goes on for a little while, with the mother turning it to the gospel station lastly and pulling off the tuning knob.
Mother: 'Aha! Jesus got the knob! Ha ha ha!.
Son: 'That's cool mama, yeah that's cool. Coz Satan got the car keys' As he pulls out the car keys.
Then they start having a lill fight again.

Never fails to give me a giggle.
