Hello Pheonix, I suggest you read some of the newbie guides and stuff before the big kids come and stomp you!
Its a simple mistake to make, so I'm not having a go at you, please don't be upset!
These boards are very well moderated making a grest environment for all members, and the rules that have been set out ensure it stays like that, take a few mins to read them and welcome.
*watch out for the tape*

Very esoteric, don't you think? I'm not a fan of that style of music at all so I had to go with other.

Since Linkin Park is on my list of top 5 favorite bands, I chose it. But if Evanescence were up there, I would have been all over it!

Marilyn Manson.
I've been a fan of his since he was in Nine Inch Nails.
And he's NOT nu-metal!! He's been around and doing music for at least 14 years.

While the correct answer would have been 'other', I thought you'd prefer an answer from that list. So I voted Linkin Park.
It was close though, it was almost Muse.

I'd *love* to see them live. I have them on DVD and they are amazing - absolute showmanship.

I have to say that my personal definition of nu-metal is pretty much defined by that list. I think that modern rock is more along the lines of... blast who the devil do kids listen to nowadays... John Mayer? I dunno... I really don't dig the whole scene with the yelling and drop tuned guitars (even though Metallica used them, I find their music to be more complicated and musical) and intentionally inflamatory lyrics. Of course this is just my opinion, not the gospel truth by any means and I can kind of see why people like the whole genre, but I'll take jazz any day of the week.

I always thought of, like, Hoobastank as modern rock. Lite-FM kind of things. I'm a huge Incubus fan, and they've been labelled nu-metal ("nu" with an umlet, to add to the label even more). I can see how some tracks on Science might be a bit nu-metally, but other than that--I mean, the band opened with a 16-piece orchestra at Ozzfest, for pete's sakes.
I've heard a few good Muse songs, and "My December" is one of the very few Linkin Park songs I will listen to. I respect Marilyn Manson, but I'm not a fan of his music. Clever lyrics to some things, though.
KoRn has never really struck a chord (inevitable pun) with me; they seem a bit silly, like they're taking themselves very seriously. That odd noise that the lead singer favors sounds a bit to me like a dog having a seizure while choking on its own vomit, but as they are rather popular, it seems some favor it. And more power to them.

From that list I went with Rammstein, which, if we must categorize, I think is industrial...
PHEONIX-=SWEADY=-
Jan 17 2005, 09:32 PM
Yes Its Iz Industrial

They're industrial-tinged metal - a wholly industrial band would be Ministry, :wumpscut: or Pigface.
