JimiJimi
Who would you have? I'd personally say:

Vocals: Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)
Guitars: Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen)
Bass: Mike Inez (Alice in Chains)
Drums: Sean Kinney (Alice in Chains)

It can be a band... a group... or just merge your favourite vocalists into the ultimate singer!

Tell me if this has been done...
MrTeapot
Oh I did this a while ago on LJ, I'll post the original version of the band and see if I can update it now.

CODE
Drums - Kieth Moon (The Who), drugged up to his eyeballs of course.
Bass - Joey DeMaio (Manowar), with additional mutated limbs to play a second bass.
Keyboards - Ludwig Van (n/a), nuff said.
Lead Guitar - Jimi Hendrix (Hendrix Experience), purely to add that psychodelic chunk to the band.
Vocalists - Trent Reznor (NIN), without the beard he kept trying to grow.
Frontman - Me (Insane Naked Screaming Man and His Suprisingly Rather Conservative Bandmates) of course, not that I can play anything as well as the others but hey look at the line up, like anyone would notice.
Daedalus
Hmmm....

Vocals: Maynard James Keenan (Tool)
Guitar: Tom Morrello (Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave)
Bass: Chris Wolstenholme (Muse)
Drums: Danny Carey (Tool)

*Ugh* I hope to God "supergroups" don't come back in style.

On the whole, I quite agree. But I'm not a huge fan of Audioslave, so I'm not sure if Tom Morrello would be wonderful as a separate guitarist, as much as I love him.

Maynard is my second favourite vocalist in the world - his voice is shocking, live or recorded. But Mike Patton beats him for range. I'd love to see them do something together - I'd die a million deaths. Maynard is beautifully voiced, Patton (who, yes, I am addicted to) has got a wonderful range and is also very musically inspirational. MJK may take over if the new Tool album is any good, but the last two APC albums haven't gripped me, I'm sad to say. I'm concerned. Oh yes.

But, either way, Maynard makes me go 'ra!'.

As for Trent Reznor - creatively, he's wonderful. His vocals are very distinctive, but I've never felt them well-performed. Speaking/singing - it works for his type of music, but otherwise I feel it would fall down.

I'm an opinionated bitch without adding anything worthwhile to the thread (mainly because I couldn't decide). But, y'know. 'Yay' anyway.

Why would I have to make my perfect band when Queen already exist?
Daedalus
Existed. Who would you replace Freddie with? And considering the rest of the band are getting on a bit, some new blood might be in order in general.
MrTeapot
Old smould, as long as they don't get chronic arthritis of the wrists or drum stick waving appendatures they're still going to rock out for a while.
Daedalus
Well, one of them is dead... I'd say that would hinder the rocking out somewhat.
MrTeapot
Brain May and Roger Taylor are always popping up in random places to keep things alive. Ok so its not Queen as it was when Fred was alive but its the essence of them, which good enough for me.

But yeah, Queen the band may be finished but the music lives on.

You can't just create a perfect band. There's no such thing as a perfect band. You'd have to encompass every type of sound that you listen to. You could take good musiciansand put them in a band that would work. Case in point, an awesome rock band:

Vocals: Scooter Ward (Cold)
Guitar/backup vocals: Aaron Lewis (Staind)
Guitar: Virus (Dope),
Bass: Shawn Economaki (Stone Sour)
Drums: Sully Erna (Godsmack)

That took a lot of thought, by the way.
Feyliya
My perfect band would have Amy Lee from Evanescence and Dave Draiman from Disturbed doing vocals.
Righteous
Okay, that would kick ass.

Oh yes yes yes. Who cares who's backing them up? The vocals would be so fantastic it wouldn't really matter.

Remember this thread?

Not surprised if you don't, but it is perfectly cromulent.

Inky, dude, we're old, everything's been done, let the kids have their play time tongue.gif

and why? why would you have Amy Lee? there are SO many better female vocalists out there....really.....Amy Lee?

Edit: For the record, I take bands as they come, they have their own strengths and weaknesses which make them what they are and which make them good, you can't mix and match, it just doesn't work that way.

I know that, foo'. I was just saving myself the effort of coming up with a new answer. Plus it shows how much I used to kick ass at thread creation.

Yeah baby. Team Kybosh > you.
