depressed lonely crazy person
what is your most long term favorite band or if need be favorite three. As in the band whose work you like allmost all of and can listen to them most of the time.
Mine
1 Placebo. cos they just rule
2 Nirvana. they're classic but I don't feel like them lately
3 Silver chair. cos they're aussie boys and havebeen consistently good for 10 years :note I don't count the disacociatives into that (as they SUCK)

Not that I admit it very often.. but I'm a Smashing Pumpkins freak. Absolutely love the pumpkins. HATE zwan though.

Tool is another big favorite of mine. But, I'm a music freak, so, I have a lot of favorites - those two are just the most steady.

Gah. Difficult.

AFI, most certainly.
Tool (although I fear for their next album after the last two bits of pap APC have brought out)
Nine Inch Nails (again, fearing for the new album - I've heard bad things)

The latter two are often swapped around with other bands depending on my mood. For example, right now, The Ramones = godly.
Daedalus
1: Nine Inch Nails
2: Tool
3: Muse

Not particularly in that order, though. The annoying thing is that I've not seen any of these bands live (but then, I haven't seen all that many bands live really). That's set to change though. NIN in March, and again in July biggrin.gif *bounces*

Is anyone else starting to see a bit of a pattern in our preferences on this forum? cool.gif

We're all Tool and NIN whores! Ra!

Yay for also seeing NIN in July - incredibly thrilling. I saw Tool at Ozzfest in Donnington in 2001 and they were stunning - MJK has the most spot-on voice live.

Being a spastic, and it being morning-time, I forgot Faith No More, who are very definitely an all-time favourite.

Gah, so many to choose from. In no order, here's 3 bands that could be in the top 3 if I had to cut the list down that much:

1. AFI
2. Brand New
3. Funeral For A Friend
Righteous
1: Mushroomhead
2: Cold
3: HIM

I'm depressed because Cold broke up, J Mann and JJ Righteous left Mushroomhead and HIM never plays down here.
Feyliya
Evanescence. Amy Lee's voice is otherworldly.
Righteous
Though I don't listen to them much (for various reasons, damn CD stealers), I loved 311, Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins loads growing up. Same with Eve 6.

1) Blues Traveler - Goddamn I love John Popper's voice, lyrics, melodies, and harmonica.

2) Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - Because swing has always been awesome and will remain so. Forever.

3) Metallica - Because they taught me to love music.

4) Aerosmith - See Blues Traveler reasons, add because of the awesome concerts and change "John Popper" to "Stephen Tyler." Say something about Joe Perry, too.

5) Meatloaf - Because he puts on one helluva show and because I love rock opera. Lyrics are pretty awesome, too.

6) Reel Big Fish - Because I love ska. Their lyrics are great, their horn lines, catchy, and their songs, rocking.

7) Ben Folds - Because I love his voice and lyrics - great piano player, too.

That's all I've got for now, but I'm sure there are others. However, I'm coming down from a caffiene high and am just now completing a very long essay on the similarities of Jane Austen and William Shakespeare. I'm a bit frazzled.

...how did I know Mike wouldn't settle on three?

1. Radiohead
2. AFI
3. above two are the most prominent...
catchmeifyoucan
1. Less than Jake
2. The Killers
3. The Strokes

Less than Jake is a most excellent ska band that puts energy, intensity, and complexity into their music. Their horn melodies are amazing and their lead singer has an excellent growly, raspy voice. Their best stuff is when they started out, like their old albums of Losing Streak and Hello Rockview. I really reccomend listening to them if you are a high-energy, happy-go-lucky soaking up life for all its worth kind of person. To me, their music never gets boring and they have some really interesting lyrics that you would never find in mainstream music (*barfs for thinking of bad pop music*)
snoo
oooh this is hard.

Umm...
Well Audiogene/Bottlerockit are my all time favourite live band (I saw them over 40 times before they disbanded)

Otherwise

1) My Chemical Romance (I've liked them for over 2 years and I can listen to any of their songs without ever wanting to skip the track)
2) Nine Inch Nails (going with Dan to see them in March and July - whoo)
3) Queens of the Stone Age (I'm just really into them at the moment)
PsychWardMike
Aw hell. I didn't notice it was only 3.

Here we go, then...

Aerosmith
Blues Traveler
Reel Big Fish.

That was actually, really hard.
