Mata's Pizza (actual pizza chain)

The Mata Mata is an unusual-looking turtle that resembles the rotting vegetation found on the bottoms of the relatively shallow lakes and rivers in which it lives.

Karni Mata, a temple for rat worshipers

Mata Nui-fictional island made up by the Lego company

celluloid mata- CD or band, don't know which

Mata Hari, a Bally pinball game also from "The Deal".

Mata Muram, the leader of the Muramites in the Everquest game

Edgar Mata- Because I don't want to explain it myself.

And of course, the origional Matazone Da Caligano.

Yes, I have nothing better to do with my time.

Edit: Maybe someone should move this thread? I don't know, I'm not good with these things.

There's a winery called "Matanzai Creek" or something of that ilk, which, if looked at during the wee hours looks precisely like "Mata is a nazi. Avoid him, and then post about it."

There was also a Mrs. Mata that showed up in one of the math problems on some homework I had a while ago...

You'd think that by seventh grade they'd stop making us do word problems...

I seem to remember the native term for Easter island being something like, 'Mata Nui'...

Also, 'Mata Hari' was a spy during one of the world wars... (I want to sat WW1, but I'm not sure...)

And, finally, in Spanish, 'Mata' translates to "He kills"... huh.gif laugh.gif

I think I learned that on here ages ago...
Mata
I'm told that in an African language that 'Mata' means 'the tightest strung bow'; in other words, 'the most dangerous weapon possible'.

'Matazone' also means 'area of jungle' in Portugese.

I only knew the Latin version when I chose my name...
