Are they planning on making the rest of them? If so, how are they going to do
The Horse and his Boy in a way which stays true to the book and doesnt come of incredibly racist?

Hmm--that is a puzzle. They'll probably skip over that one--or add appendages to the racistly-portrayed types and turn them into "fantasy creatures", a la Star Wars.
It's been Film Week over here at my house, an enjoyable time during which my brother and I rent a lot of old movies and watch them. We screened:
-Rebel Without a Cause: I had thought it would be kitschy and pointless, but this is a really excellent movie. James Dean rocks my world (even if he is a sausage and a sellout now)
-Lord of the Flies: very scary if only because of the strange, stilted acting of the main characters. Their not-so-awesome delivery of the lines somehow makes it more real-seeming, and Ralph was pretty and skinny (and the actor was 16--stop looking at me like that). But yeah, good movie.
and
-the first two Star Wars movies. Yay for childhood memories (though I'm certainly not old enough to recall its being in theaters) and for the heroism of Han Solo (who was by far the coolest).

Sues and I watched Kung Fu Hustle last night. It's a very daft and rather surreal kung fu movie with a fair amount of inspiration from western martial arts effects, in particular the hundred Agent Smith fight in the second Matrix film. It achieves some fantastic fights and effects on a budget that was probably considerably smaller than that single fight in The Matrix and manages to make you care more about the characters while doing it. If you like kung fu silliness then I highly recommend it.

I WISH I WAS THERE IN ENGLAND WHEN THEY DID THAT! *glooms*
Meh, it was alright

I recently watched Anchorman as I have heard so many good things about it, and how terribly funny it is. I was quite dissappointed as I found it rather boring- perhaps I just wasn't in the right mood for it. It just seemed to be forced- as though they knew what they were doing was funny and so everyone would laugh- but it just seemed a little stale.
I have also re-watched Oliver Stone's The Doors after reading Jim Morrison's biography. It is still a fantastic film- you can really feel the mood of the piece change dramatically throughout; from the start which is pretty mellow but upbeat, to the pinacle of The Doors career which is buzzing and vibrant, to the sadness of their downfall and the increase of Jim's drug abuse- but it is interesting to see just
how inaccurate it is to the real story.
I would reccomend both, especially the latter!

Has anyone else seen the Japanese high school film Ping Pong? It's very good, if rather odd. It's like a king fu film where all the kung fu has been replaced with slow-motion games of ping pong. I saw it on BBC3 yesterday. It was really very entertaining. If you only ever watch one film about ping pong in your life, let it be this one!

You leave Stargate out of this! I love Stargate! It's got lots of daft one-liners in it. Equally, the one episode I've seen of Firefly was very good, so it's a shame it's gone, but don't take your anger out on poor ickle Stargate or I'll get Sues to poke you next time we see you

It's January, so american TV has stopped being silly and started showing new TV stuff again. Hooray for the continuation of Desperate Housewives, Lost and Numb3rs, and an even bigger cheer for series 5 of Scrubs and 24

Bryden, depending on what you liked about Stargate then you may or may not like series 7,8 & 9. I like the new series, there are new baddies, which rock, but they havn't got Jack anymore, they do have the main character from Farscape in it though, they're quite entertaining (well her more so than him...).

I finished watching Lost S2E11 tonight. Another great episode, answering a few questions and raising a whole batch of new ones. Jack is starting to grow on me again, as is Locke. Mmm, Lost.
Also, I've been wanting to watch Bleach 63 and 64, but Lunar haven't pulled their fingers out of their arses and come up with the subs yet; I much prefer to watch the Lunar subs. So, wait I must.

Ah, but they do have the bloke who played Kryten in
Farscape, and it turns out that he's excellent in
Stargate too! Hurrah! The facial similarity between him and the Dr. Jackson actor is very striking though, so much so that Jackson has had to grow a beard (I assume so it's easier for people to tell them apart).

It's a bit weird isn't it? Although Michael Shanks appears to have a very ugly portrait in his attic, because I think he looks even better now than when he started in the series.
