Heh, this is a lot funnier if you're in a room full of people that know the people in this video, but my teachers made a video where they went back in time... Best part is what Stone says at the end.

I saw Robin Hood and Four Lions today. Robin Hood is basically Kingdom of Heaven II. Set against a backdrop of political upheaval caused by the Crusades, one lowly peasant gains noble rank and - though not a particularly important rank - gains the ear of rulers of the land, leads an army and talks a lot about social injustice. I loved it, I can understand why a lot of people won't.

Four Lions, if you're not aware, is a satirical comedy about terrorism by Chris Morris. Perhaps one of the most controversial concepts for a film imaginable. It's good. Sort of. Mostly. I'm glad I watched it, I did laugh a lot, it did make me think. It's just really really dark. Like, as dark and heavy as you'd expect and then more so.

But mostly I have been watching videos of kittens on youtube. I love internet.
Mata
Chris Morris + terrorism was never going to be a combination that resulted in 'light hearted rom-com romp'. I'm definitely interested in seeing that one.
Novander
Four Lions is certainly worth a watch.

I saw Prince of Persia: Sands of Time this evening. It has some absolutely dire writing in it, but is still quite enjoyable for such a bad film. Exactly what you'd expect.

TWENTY FOUR.

After having owned the box-set for about 5 years, I started watching DVDs of FRIENDS (even though, repeatedly, it is repeatedly repeated on TV repeatedly). I find it kind of sad that I've yet to find a show (except perhaps 'Scrubs') that I've cared as much about.
Tarantio
Just watched the last ever episode of Ashes to Ashes. Loved it so much I watched it again right after. Cried at the end both times too. Awesome, awesome stuff.

I was watching it with a German couch surfer I have staying at the moment. She was explaining the German entry and how strange she is- apparently she answers questions about her personal life, but no one knows what is true and what isn't. Especially when she says things like "My parents married me off when I was 13" in response to "Do you have a boyfriend?". Also, we both laughed when Germany got no points from Israel, and more so when Russia gave points to Georgia.

Shrek (the third? fourth? ..eh, the new one) was pretty good. It was enjoyable over the crying of toddlers people brought even though there's no way they've seen the first movie so won't appreciate what's going on. I giggled quite a bit. It could have been longer.

...Sex and the City.. I dunno. I didn't enjoy it, but that might only be because I was sleepy and focusing on not throwing up. Everyone else seemed to like it.
Daria
The Genius Of Britain tv show on Channel 4. OH GOD I LOVE SCIENCE. I really really really do. Watching this make me want to tug on Robert Winston's moustache in the throes of passion whilst listening to David Attenborough whisper in my ear.

Excuse me, I think I need a moment.
Mata
That's one hell of an image.

Regarding Eurovision, at least Germany's entry was pretty good. It makes the fact that they just saved the Euro from going completely tits up seem slightly less related to their victory... Though you've got to imagine that it helped a bit.
Industrial Kybosh
There were about five songs in this year's Eurovision that didn't make me yawn myself into a coma. I do not drink my own bodyweight in vodka to gear myself up for watching ballads, Europe!

The winner deserved it, and we deserved to come last.
CrazyFooIAintGettinOnNoPlane
^ Agreed. And germany's entry is insanely catchy happy.gif

The genius of britain series is pretty awesome. From what I've watched of it, it does a fantastic job of popularising science. Really gives you an understanding of how groundbreaking/exciting the discoveries were and why they're important.

I'm not really watching anything at the moment except Dr Who, which I have only recently gotten into. I am told there's a new season of True Blood starting soon, which should be good, and also new futurama, which I really hope won't be as awful as the movies were...
leopold
I'll tell you what I'm NOT watching.

Big sodding Brother!

I don't care if it's the last one ever, I'm not having it leech three months of my life. Especially since the live stream has meant E4 is not showing double episodes of Scrubs at lunchtime now (it's 50 minutes of respite from work!) so I hate it even more fervently! mad.gif

Just finished Waltz With Bashir.

I could not watch that movie. I got about 10 minutes in and realized I was going to be either incredibly depressed or hallucinating if I continued.

But I just saw À Bout de Souffle and it's official, Jean-Paul Belmondo and I are a Thing.

New futurama sucked.
New true blood is awesome.

This weekend I watched the entirety of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace for the first time, and it was amazing.

I quite liked the new Futurama, but I'm fairly happy that it's back at all. Never watched True Blood though, too much vampire stuff all at once put me off it; I have heard good things though.

Weirdly, I recommended Dark Place to a friend of mine last week, only for her to post the trailer on facebook and have a few other mates say they wanted to watch it again/hadn't seen it before. I actually watched the entire thing again only last night. Must be something in the air. Tis an awesome, funny series biggrin.gif
Mata
Oo, new True Blood. Awesome! I've loved the last two series. Unfortunately I now have to wait for my gf to catch up with them so I can watch the new ones. Grr!
Novander
Simply put, Inception is amazing. I mean, seriously, wow. It's so rare to have a blockbuster with such an original premise, where the emotions of the lead character carry the plot. Honestly I couldn't truly express how much I enjoyed it without breaking the forum rules on swearing so you'll just have to trust me: film of the year.
Yannick
New Futurama is so good. I love it when shows are politically relevant. "ROBOSEXUALITY IS ILLEGAL." "NOT IN MASSACHUSETTS!"

Fixed that for you.

Ok, I stopped watching after the abysmal 3rd episode but I doubt it gets any better after that.

Not my fault you don't have a sense of humor. Unless we're talking about Fox News, chill out and realize people do find the programs they watch interesting and obviously they wouldn't be aired if they weren't.

I love the new Futurama. I've watched the old episodes and the new ones and I think they're just as good as each other.

I wax my rocket every day!

Despicable Me is an awesome movie. Toy Story 3... was not that great. I was never a huge fan of the first two, and this one was just as meh.

Despicable Me looks awesome. I can't wait to see Toy Story 3. Those films were my childhood.

OK. So a few weeks ago I read all the Scott Pilgrim Books. Today I saw the film. It was very well done. I think one of the reasons it's flopped is because most people don't get the style of the movie. It's too different.
Tarantio
It's flopped? Just about everyone I know has gone to see it, so that's news to me...

I just finished watching 3:10 to Yuma again. Absolutely love a good western, and it's a very good western smile.gif

Edit: Wikipedia says it's $30M down on its budget, so I guess that counts as a flop. Shame :/

I'm not so sure, I feel bad for the people who worked hard on it and everything, but this way greedy rich people won't push for a sequel.

I just watched Yes Man. It's been sitting on Sky player for ages now trying to lure me in, and my insomnia finally joined forces with it and I caved. Whilst I'm generally a fan of Zooey Deschanel in just about anything, I'm surprised how often her movies are hit-and-miss. Carey was funny at parts, uninspiring at others, and the script seemed to be written by two very different authors who were fighting over which scenes they got to do. It wasn't terrible, except in parts where it was, but it didn't exactly blow me away either.

At least it wasn't The Happening. /me shudders
Hobbes
^-- I quite enjoyed Yes Man. I'm no big Carey fan: some films I've loved, others I've detested. But I rather enjoyed the film as a whole. Perhaps it wasn't astounding, but I'm glad I took the effort to watch it.

Plus... Zooey Deschanel biggrin.gif

The book, incidentally, is definitely worth a read. It differs quite heavily from time to time, is mostly true, and actually inspires occasionally too.

A friend downloads TV and we string a number of episodes together into a movie night type experience. Saw the Dresden Files over Thanksgiving and we're now having Warehouse 13 nights. So far only one night but crazy busyness happens.
I think it's got a lot of potential for good story lines. Have to see how it goes.
Hobbes
I saw the new Harry Potter film on Saturday night. If you want an opinion of it, you can pretty much read a review of any of the Harry Potter films, and it'll cover most of the basics.

i.e. it was good. It wasn't amazing, or inspiring, or awful, or boring. It was good. I'd say, "okay", but I think that has more negative connotations than neutral ones.
Hobbes
I just finished watching Spirited Away, because Syuu told me to smile.gif

It was lovely!
Secret Santa
Cannibal Holocaust, the uncut edition.

EDIT: Oh, and obviously watching all the boys and girls (regardless of whether they are awake or not) so that I may learn whether they've been acting to my satisfaction, morally-speaking. My advice would be to behave well.

Easy A, which was a wonderful movie! I recommend it. <3

This past week I've watched Limitless, The Notebook, Son of Rambow, Zombieland, Source Code, and the first four episodes of Lost.

Lost... seems pretty good, anybody heard of it...?

dry.gif

I saw the pilot episode when it was first aired over here, and then caught perhaps another 4 or 5 episodes over the course of its lifespan. All of them I really enjoyed, but naturally I was totally confused by a lot of it since I hadn't been following it (I'd not really been able to watch things regularly at the time of the first season, and didn't want to just "join in" halfway). A friend of mine has been rewatching them on DVD, and lent me the first season a couple of days ago. So I watched the first disc (four episodes... well... a two-part pilot, and two further episodes) this evening. Really enjoying it.

As for the films, Limitless was probably my favourite out of the bunch, but they were all really good in their own ways. Source Code I enjoyed, but should have been a loooooooot better.
Mata
I recently watched Vacancy. It's a film about a couple who check in a motel and realise it's being used for snuff films. It's a pretty grisly premise but done quite well. If you're in the mood for a popcorn horror then it's a decent choice.

Mostly I've been watching Bablyon 5. If you don't know it, it's a sci-fi TV series from the 1990s. I watched it when it was first broadcast and really liked it, but I thought that it was going to have dated horribly. I'm completely amazed by how good it still is - some of the CG is a bit dated, but has stood up pretty well considering, and otherwise the script and acting is superb. The storyline is very gripping and well paced. There five series and I've just finished number three, so there's lots more to go... And then there are the spin off films and other TV series. It's also available for 50 pounds from the UK Amazon shop so it's amazing value too! (It's much more expensive from the US Amazon and it's not even the complete series.) Good stuff biggrin.gif
CrazyFooIAintGettinOnNoPlane
Recently I have watched

Fantastic Mr Fox, which I loved. Wes Anderson = amazing.

TROLL 2 I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH OMG OMG

Burn After Reading - maybe not as good as some other Coen brothers films but I enjoyed it

The entire 7 seasons of Star Trek Voyager. Some of it was worth watching. I may start watching Babylon 5 (never seen it) to fill the anomalous void in my life.

Source code - I liked this. It's no moon (it's a space station!!) but I thought it melded sci-fi and action pretty well. The characters were very one dimensional though.

I enjoyed the whole "nobody-really-knows-what-is-happening" aspect of Burn After Reading, but I know a LOT of people who really didn't enjoy the film at all because of this aspect. They essentially left the cinema asking, "What just happened?" and not in a positive way. Personally, I found it funny, but maybe it's just my sense of humour...

I saw Source Code about a week ago and enjoyed it, but I agree with you about the characters. Some of the acting was a little 'off' at times, too, and I kind of felt a bit dissapointed when it all finished: that the "mystery" aspect of finding the bomber should have been played out a lot more than some of the other parts of the film (romance, sci-fi...). I guess I wanted to see a more of the eight-minutes happening.
CrazyFooIAintGettinOnNoPlane
on series 3 of babylon 5 now. A++++
