Hi there, I'm not a satanist but I am open to all sorts of relegions.

I just want to ger clued up on it because I have heard satenists say that we don't even know what its all about before we "juge" them. Thank you in advance.

If you ever want to know anything, you can do a lot worse than to head over to Wikipedia

Link to Wikipeida article on Satanism here

Or even failing that, try typing "what is satanism" into Google

Welcome to my boards. Two tips: don't put your full email address on here without altering it in a similar way to above. This site is constantly being scanned by spam-email programs, so you would be increasing the chances of getting junk mail by posting your uneditted address on here.

Secondly, please try and give informative titles to your threads, such as 'What do people know about Satanism?' rather than simply 'Question' which could be anything.

On topic: any particular reason you've chosen to be interesting in Satanism rather than other religions? I can see that there is a certain counter-cultural allure to the religion, but I'm interested in what's prompted you to ask about it.

1) Get The Satanic Bible
2) Read it.

It's a good book, and since it's written by the father of modern Satanism, Anton LaVey (aka, the Black Pope), it tells it as it is meant to be. Also, don't be put off by the word 'bible'. It is not a bible like the Christian Bible, but more a book explaining about it. Also, you may want to have a look at/talk to The Church of Satan for more information.

Edit: I've just assumed you're thinking about modern Satanism here, and not about devil-worshipping or some such.

Modern Satanism holds Satan as a concept, and not as a being or deity, as it is atheistic. It is a worship of oneself, indulging in the 'seven deadly sins', enjoying life, and looking after number one.

Edit again: This Site also has wuite good explanations on, though is a bitch to navigate. Links everywhere. Kinda leaves you a bit unsure about whether you've read everything. Still, good stuff.

I am intrested in Satanism I've always have. And I know I can't say if i'm tottaly against it or not because I haven't the fouguist of what it involves. Wicca has a bad press but I find it beautiful.

Wicca and Satanism are very different things. Satanism is more akin to an embrace of capitalist culture and a rejection of traditional spiritual values, whereas Wicca embraces those old values and develops them.

I recently had a discussion about this on another forum. You wouldn't believe how many people yelled bloody murder when I equated modern satanism with capitalistic motivation. biggrin.gif

Makes you wonder exactly how far our accepted social structure is from morality... doubly ironic that deviants to it are the ones considered immoral...

blagh. Ignore my ramblings. I'm currently snatching a few minutes online before I head back to my grans funeral party.

Well, that's what LaVey himself said. Free-market philosophy is at the heart of the Church of Satan.
