Excellent stuff. Good to see you experimenting with some more techniques (i.e. the movie clip).
Reminded me of a short story I wrote about three of four years ago, in which Jesus had a Welsh accent. I'll do something with that story, one day.

You know, I sometimes wonder how much easier my life would be if I just stopped compulsively experimenting with stuff, but I love trying new things. It's a mild addiction I suppose, and probably one of the more useful ones that you can have.

But... But... God is a black Frenchman who likes cheese and lettuce sandwiches, isn't he?
Sir Psycho Sexy
Jul 7 2005, 11:28 PM
....I thought we discussed this in Pizza Hut, God is an irate black woman with three children to shout at....she was sitting behind us, remember?
Mata
Jul 7 2005, 11:37 PM
This is true. Perhaps 90 years ago God was a black French guy, but has now decided to move with the times.
Can you remember exactly why we decided that that woman was God?
Sir Psycho Sexy
Jul 7 2005, 11:47 PM
umm....no...might have been because of that picture you took from above, and I got confused and you said that it must have been me thinking God was talking to me again and I think she got dragged into it because she was close by and the kids were drawing attention to her...yes...that was probably it...or something to do with it...probably...
Mata
Jul 8 2005, 12:47 AM
Oo yes. I called your name, then later we joked you were hearing the voice of God, then she was telling her kids what to do, which we dismissed as not being the voice of God either, then decided that maybe it was, and it would explain a lot.

Now I think about it, it was quite a bizarre conversation, esspecially considering we were sober.

Not so odd really. I think trips of fancy help keep the brain lively. The world is too predictable to go through life not illustrating the things that are always around the corner.

That was fantastic. Not only did I laugh, but my mum did too! I especially loved the end when God said 'desolee! Hmmm hmm hm hmm'. I think it made it like it was a little trivial ship.

It does seem to be a very parent-friendly animation. Even mine liked it, and usually they just shake their heads and mutter phrases like 'I don't know where he gets it from'.

My parents do the same thing, only they point to each other and say "she got it from you" "who, me? No, she got it from you"
But....what is he saying? I'm sure it doesn't really matter (It was funny anyway), but when I showed it to my mom, that was the first thing she said.

Fromage = cheese
Latuie = lettuce
Parfait = perfect
Desole! (with the accent on the last 'e') = Sorry!

Thank you. If you're not a regular checker then it's easiest to keep up with new stuff using the mailing list. You can join using the box on the main pages and it only takes a moment. The list is zero spam, so there's always something new to see if you get a message.
For a person who's only posted 96 times so far you have clearly made an impression, becasue I immediately spotted your username.

Question.
Why did you subtitle the French voice track....in French?
Sir Psycho Sexy
Jul 13 2005, 10:27 AM
Answer.
Because the quality of the recorded voice ment that it would have been harder to understand without sub-titles? If you know what he's ment to be saying, then it's easier to hear it.
Edit: Same reason he puts the voice _and_ words in the later LGG and Samuri Lapin animations....also some people don't have sound.

Jul 13 2005, 10:55 AM
Actually a better question might be 'why didn't I put subtitles on the Titanic section?'
The answer there would be 'I forgot and have only just noticed that I didn't'.
Oops.
I always subtitle things for people without sound and deaf viewers (I know at least one regular visitor is deaf).

To make this less spammy I decided to try it on the parent. They love Samauri Lapin almost as much as I do but they say this is a close second. *thumbs up*

Usually my site averages around 8-10 thousand hits per day, with around 60% of those coming from people watching the animations. On Wednesday I had 11k pages views and Thursday clocked 12.5k, so I'm guessing many other people agree with the 'thumbs up'

Hooray!

Aye, but if you're going to go to the trouble of including subtitles, you could at least provide comedic mis-translations.

That would rather defeat the point for people watching without sound though, wouldn't it?

I really liked this one. It was cool how you tried new things (movie clips) and new languages.
Had to laugh at the puns as well.

The pun wasn't actually funny. The movie has a secret code in it that reconfigures your PC to produce a small squirt of laughing gas. It's very clever stuff, and highly secret. Now I have told you I shall have to kill you.
I've got an idea for something else with video clips that might be more tricky. We'll see how that goes...
