Hey everyone. I know this might be considered spam, or whatever, but I figure it's an easy crack at getting a good book and CD for free. It's a promotional contest for my comic, The Imryll Comic. Mata came and pimped this place in our forum, so, what's the worst that can happen?

That being said! Here's the comic in question:

WHAT TO DO:

Save this comic, or copy it, and put it through your favourite editing program. Fill in the speech bubbles, preferably with words, (although you're free to make it appear as though they're conversing in Wingdings. I don't mind) and then post it in this thread. You can, alternatively, e-mail it to me: jimmahgee at gmail dot com. Make sure to give me a name and e-mail contact, just in case you win!

WHAT YOU GET (As a winner!):

Signed copy of "A Hat Full Of Sky," by Terry Pratchett. Pratchett's most famous works are the Discworld series, basically. It's English comedy on steroids. Love it.

Special edition CD/DVD black-cased copy of Kasabian's self-titled album. Kasabian are electronic rock. Also English, and in my opinion pretty awesome, too.

Imryll sketches. I know that doesn't sound too hot, so I'm also throwing in...

Real artwork. I've got a handful of blue ink drawings that were going to be a part of a project I ended out never finishing. I'll sign them, for the sake of signing, and then they're yours to sell/treasure/burn/urinate upon as you see fit. You might be interested in the fact I'm an established artist - my skills go beyond this comic, which is a hobby. A fun hobby! But all the same, yadda yadda.

Make me proud, friends. Show me your glorious inner workings.
Mata
Hi Jimme, nice to see you on here. I think it's absolutely fair enough that you're pimping your site on mine. Like you say, I did the same to your place!

So you lot, go add words to the bubbles, and show those non-Matazonians how it's done biggrin.gif
jimmehgee
Doesn't look like they're interested! Yeah... so now I fee like a bum. Oh well, cheers for at least looking.
Mata
Not everyone is a cartoonist, but I am still surprised. Usually they jump at the chance of putting pithy odes to despair in the mouths of characters...
CheeseMoose
I don't normally do cartoons but I was inspired by another entry and I've posted my own.
jimmehgee
Got it, CheeseMoose. Thanks very much, I appreciate it!
Feyliya
I'm going to do one, I just need to percolate a bit. When's the deadline?
CommieBastard
Only just noticed this, count me in.

Lack of interest could be because you put it in one of the less popular forums here (though the appropriate one). I rarely visit Creations myself, which is why I have just now seen this thread.
Mata
Actually, while Creations is certainly the right one for the artwork, I think that this is also an event in Jimme's life, so let's bung it in Daily Life. That gets a lot more readers each day, so might drum up some more entries. We'll get a Matazone victory in this competition yet!
Aria
Hrm. I might give it a shot, but I would like to know about deadlines.
Also, can we put in anything in there? Like, completely random stuff? Or do ya have to have a coherent plot line?

Have you seen the rest of the comics? tongue.gif

Super shovel fury!
jimmehgee
Aw, guys.

So, the deadline is a week or two away. I SAY a week or two but what I really mean is two weeks for sure. So there's no rush at all, so take as much time within that as you like.

As for coherency... I was went to America a couple of months ago and my dad bought me condoms. Can you believe that? How embarassing. Of course, it didn't help that I had to buy more during my visit -- but that's life. Wisconsin has a lot of countryside.

DO YOU READ ME?

Coherency isn't required at all. In fact, I love the inane and inappropriate, so if you want to go all out crazy I won't hold it against you.

Also, Mata, thanks for moving it for me. I knew you were a sound guy, but now I'll have to buy you a pint if we ever bump into each other. Ignore there's 400 miles between us. I WILL bump into you.

Witness as I only experience mild fear! Hurrah!

Those are great comics. I read through a fair few of them this morning. When http://www.b3ta.com goes back online you might want to post some on there, it's pretty good publicity.
jimmehgee
Thanks for the tip! Bookmarked it.
Mata

I've also bunged that in your thread Jimme.

EDIT: I've also put a link in my blog http://www.matazone.co.uk/blog/?p=100 It only gets a few hundred hits per day I think, but it might push a few people your way.
jimmehgee
You're quality, Mata. Thanks a bunch!
Kitty
I made one!!!

hehe.... I kinda like it. It reminds me of telemarketers....
jimmehgee
Haha, thanks!

Hey everyone, for conveniences sake, here's what I wrote on my forum regarding the winner:

----

The winner of the Imryll comic contest is Mr. Kingston Wormwood, with this entry.

Kingston gets the book, the CD, four blue ink drawings, one pencil drawing, and ten pages of Imryll stuff including two painted (and inked) comics on heavy A4 paper.

Other entries that came oh so very close to winning were Ian Kristensen's offering, Pablito's four-floor story, Steve Voudrie's ball licking entry and finally Randy Johnson's.. er.

I had fun seeing all the entries and consider this contest to be a success, so there may be another like it on the horizon. Anyone wants to throw me prizes to give out, too, that would be neat!
Mata
Cheers Jimme, nice competition and a well deserving winner.
