Urban Dead

It's basically a browser-based MMORPG based around the much-beloved premise of a zombie outbreak. It's fun!

Be sure to tell me what your characters are named, so that I can eat their brains.
IrishGuy
Bubba Johnson. He's a firefighter in Dakerstown.
Cath
Gwyn in Lockettside. She's a medic with no idea what shes doing biggrin.gif

Hah, I'm having great fun with this.

Both my active characters are zombies - high-level ones. Zombies can get a skill called Scent Trail, meaning that I can sense the current position of living who have had contact with me (i.e. attacked me). This combined with the Memories of Life skill allowing me to open doors means I can hunt down and kill those who harm me with ease. happy.gif

Edit: Kevan just announced the imminent arrival of a new class, the Zombie Hunters. Should I be worried?
IrishGuy
Yes! Also, how do you level up so quickly? You only get 50 turns per day which, if you think about it, isn't much if you take in walking around.

I think they shouldn't make you pay for talking. Or at least give you more attempts at talking before taking a turn. And the searching too. I could see it taking a turn if you pick up something.

Or maybe I'm too whiney.
Aria
Yeah, I'm confused too. I mean, I've got a couple characters, and one's a soldier, right? but you run out of ammo darn fast. Where do you find more? how? What the heck is a medic supposed to do? Or a Necrotech employee? All confused!
CommieBastard
Aria: I had the same problem with my soldier, whom I then zombified. As for Necrotech kids, they're no match for zombies in combat, and that's not their job anyway - they've got to use their DNA extractors on the zombies to keep track of them. Other pieces of useful technology exist - search Necrotech buildings.

Medics are supposed to keep people alive - remember that anyone who dies can and very likely will rise again as a zombie, swelling the ranks of the undead. Heal any wounded survivors you see - search hospitals for more supplies.
CommieBastard
I now have a survivor character - a Necrotech lab assistant named David James. He's holed up in the Necrotech building at 50,75 in Kempsterbank.

Resurrecting (LOLZ) this topic to appeal for more players and suggest the formation of an in-game group. Everyone and his mother has a group of teammates, and I want in on the cooperative action, dagnabbit. If we have a friendly group of people we can coordinate our efforts, get healed/revived when we need it, etc.

To answer questions:

Soldiers and policemen - firearms-oriented combat characters - should seek out Police Departments, where can be found flak jackets, pistols, shotguns, and ammunition for both. Their role is to kill zombies.

Firement and other melee-oriented combat characters should grab a fireaxe from the nearest Fire Station and set about merrily hacking away at the undead.

Medics gain five XP whenever they heal somebody. Medkits for this purpose can be found in Hospitals, which is also where people go to get healed if they need it.

Scientists have two main routes to gaining XP. Firstly, using their DNA Extractor on zombies (each zombie can be tagged once a day) gets 5XP a shot. When they gain the Lab Experience skill, they can use Necrotech Syringes (found in Necrotech buildings) to turn zombies back into humans.

Any character can perform any of these roles by buying the relevant skills.

Careful where you sleep. Zombies will check Hospitals and Police Departments regularly (especially the former, whose occupants often cannot defend themselves very well). Unless you're in a safehouse (a barricaded building with lots of survivors), don't spend the night in popular and noticeable buildings.

Stay out of Shearbank. The suburb of Shearbank has been taken over by a group of survivors calling themselves DARIS (the Democratic Armed Republic of Independent Suburbs). They will kill anybody they find trespassing in Shearbank.

Chronotub
I have a soldier called chronotub, I didnt know what I was doing so I have just run out of action points I assume that I am now helpless if a zombie comes along.
I a also starting a zombi charicter called peat
CommieBastard
Yes, before you run out of action points you should seek shelter inside a building. Staying out on the streets is a recipe for being eaten.

My character, Lapin, is in Molebank.
Tarantio
I'm still coming back to this every few days. If it weren't for my dozen or so gankings that I've had to suffer I might indeed call myself the zombie king! I've got only one more skill to get before I'm maxed out, and I've had my fair share or killings biggrin.gif

As to the hinding inside thing, there is yet to be a way for zombies to beat barricades. I look forward to getting one with great anticipation. Until then I'll just have to look for more buildings with six people inside and the doors lying wide open XD

God bless, that was a fun two nights...

Apart from breaking them down, you mean?
Alanity
I've joined the fray with a fireman called Dan Mcgrew.
Sadly I couldn't find any Malamute Saloons so I'm roughing it in a warehouse in Richmond Hills for the night.
MrTeapot
I felt like a Zombie this morning, so I am a Zombie in the game. Graaaaahh.
MrTeapot
I made a human character too, but he is now a zombie. Damn its hard to stay alive when the best that you can do is shut doors for protection.
Jimmy-von-Lucidious
I just started a scout and I'm in west grey side. This will be interesting I have no idea about this game so lets see if I can't be zombafied in record time.
Jimmy-von-Lucidious
I don't think that went too well. I found a metal pipe and did like 4 damage to a zombie and now I'm alone in a baricaded building with smashed windows in buttonville... Zombie, zombie, zombie.
MrTeapot
Whats a GPS Unit?
CommieBastard
Tells you where you are, in terms of map co-ordinated (Malton is 100x100 suburbs square). It's been made a bit obsolete by the map.
