I'm moderately intrigued by the Island but am not sure I want to make the effort to float the lead balloon of disbelief through 2 1/4 hours without knowing a bit more.

Anyone seen it? Liked it? Hated it?
Spoilers are fine. Not wonderful but fine. smile.gif

I went to see it a couple of weeks ago.

It's good fun. It starts off with a quite nicely thoughtful sci-fi paranoia set-up then pretty much gives up on that bit and goes into a very well executed chase movie.

It's more than a touch daft, but Ewan McGregor is always a great person to watch in pretty much everything he's been in. The plot patches over some of the more thoughtful and provocative ideas that it raises, but it's done with such pace and spirit that it's hard to begrudge them that. Don't expect to be lying in bed at night thinking about it (expect for perhaps McGregor and Scarlett Johansson in rather slinky white jumpsuits... wink.gif) but you can expect to cringe at some of the crunches and bangs.

Go expecting to see an enjoyable sci-fi chase film and you'll really enjoy yourself. It's definitely one that will benefit from being on a big screen, so if you like the sound of it then go see it at the cinema rather than waiting for rental.
