'Lo!

I figured I could get away with posting this here. We'll Write is the name of the band I'm in, 'though we're really more of a duo than a band. We're London based, and I met a load of you lot actually in London back in March, so I figured there's a chance that some of you might even come and see us play. You don't have to or anything... well, Forever Unknown does, otherwise I'll cry. But yeah. Please click the link, give us a listen, and hey, maybe even tell us what you think.

As yet, there's no shows confirmed, but we're looking at the Hope & Anchor and the Red Room for September and November. We're actually hoping for confirmation on that today.

Listen to the musics, join the mailing list, befriend the 'blog and we will teach you how to love, and maybe tell you what our favourite types of mushroom are. But we'll probably just lie to you.

I'm now going to continue to lurk for a while. Bye!

Eek! Huge hand! 'Just as well you've found a big mic to fit it.
My top tip for the music industry: don't try to eat your recording equipment.

I listened to 'It never seems to rain' and it was very *struggles to find the right word* jolly? nice? musical? Er... I don't know the right word, but I liked it.

When you guys get the gigs page sorted out on your site let me know and I'll bung a plug for you in my blog. You never know, someone might even read it!

Eeeey! Ta Mata. I will give you snogs next time I see you a-wanderin'. The gig page is, indeed, sorted now.

Trick photography; I actually have terribly wee hands.

Firstly, I like the vocal styling, your voices work well together, reminds me slightly of the Divine Comedy. Secondly, "hand of god"? "noah's flood"? Christian undertones? Or just an easy rhyme? biggrin.gif tongue.gif If it's an easy rhyme, be a little careful, some people might be put off by it. Umm...the effect(s) on the guitar sounded a little too wet to me (ironic really in a song about rain and floods), my preference would be to tone it down a little, not a totally clean guitar, thats boring, also, it might be better suited to an acoustic. Is it in a minor scale? Sounds like it, happy tunes use major scales...unless that's the sound you're going for? Oh, and the drums, they didn't sound right, not sure why, they just didn't seem to mesh with the song as a whole, it may just be the way it's mixed, will listen more and report.

I'm sure you've been through a lot of this already. If I've pointed out something thats intentionally like that, ignore it, if you'd like I could bug my friend to have a listen to it, he's a damn good record producer type person, released an album with a band he's been working with, they were in Kerrang earlier this year, for 4 K's! (out of 5 tongue.gif). Anyway, yeah, cool, will listen more later, may post more if you care what I say!

Thanks. We do have good voices, which is handy as it puts us above a good 85% of other bands out there. I like the comparison to Neil Hannon. Better than Chris bloody Martin and all the silly buggers trying to emulate his whiney bleating.

The Tom and I are both atheists. The religious overtones are deliberate, but they're not personal. It's really all about the imagery, and that is of civillisation being totally swept away. The story of Noah and the idea of a wrathful deity are familiar to pretty much everybody. We could've written about that twatting great tsunami, but the song was written a good nine months before that and it might not have scanned so well. Plus, we're ripping off the Manics quite enough on other songs.

As for being a little careful and people being 'put off' by the generic religious imagery, I think it's worth bearing in mind that we're hardly singing about Jesus, Heaven, loving everybody or having the whole world in His hands, and that it's not something that crops up in any other song. I'm pretty sure people won't mistake us for a Christian rock band.

The song is upbeat, but the scale is minor. It's not really that unusual. We're both very happy with the guitar and drum sounds, but obviously some people might prefer something different. But, y'know, all opinions are welcome. And thanks for listening!

P.S. Please learn how to use the word 'ironic' properly.

Please excuse me while I plug:

Colour, 22 Inverness Street, Camden - TONIGHT

Come and pay money to see us. Promoters like it when people pay them money, and it will encourage them to book us again.

I heard that We'll Write give out cake and cookies between songs, apparently. I also might have heard something about a giant tube of Jaffa Cakes.

I'm going tonight to see if this is true, all those who like cake should join me.
Mata
Have a good gig!

Well there wasn't cake, but there were Elk and Zombies...which are almost as good.
