Yup, that's right. There has been a fear since 9/11 that the government would try to inact laws that would curb freedoms. This has repeatedly been shot down by the government and comdemned as the loony left jumping at shadows.

Well it looks like they were correct all along. You know... I'm getting tired of the 'left' being ridiculed by the 'right', only to be proven correct sometime later...

Well I suppose it's necessary. We should give up our freedoms so we are protected from the evil terrorists who want to destroy our freedoms.

Wait.... that doesn't sounds right...

Can someone please tell me why we went to Afghanistan and Iraq if it wasn't to protect our way of life?

Um, to 'liberate' something wasn't it? Either that, or something to do with magical weapons that can destroy things, on mass.

The main reasons that were thrown around were.

Afghanistan: Headquarters of teh evil terrorists who want to destroy our freedoms! Let's go get them before they get us. Oh, and that liberation lark too while we're there.

Iraq: Those pesky weapons of mass destruction that we must destroy to ensure our continued way of life and freedoms! Oh yes, and lets do some more liberating while we're at it.

Now it seems that our freedoms are more under threat by those in charge at home, rather than any vicious spectre in another country.
