Just got back from seeing Land of the Dead.
Go and see it.
I won't spoil anything, but they have managed to completely revamp the zombie genre.
Sure, it was predictable in places, but it still managed to bring the zombie-fear out in me.
I would say more about it, but me and Witless went out drinking afterwards and I'm having problems focussing on the keyboard.

Does it live up to the original?

Yes and no.
I think they've taken it in a different direction. The quality is there but it doesn't quite feel like the previous.
But hey, zombies and chainguns in the same movie? I'm happy.

Been out a week in the UK and no posts
Well as a massive fan of the first, three movies I loved this one. Unfortunately the movie has been heavily censored....damn 15 rating.
The gore over all is tame, but the movie is enjoyable ....I dragged the girlfriend along, a known hater of everything gory and she even enjoyed it as a story line. Think Romero pulled this one of nicely hope he gets to make more .... as this story ain't over.

Oh, right. When Mata said "the original" it made it sound like this was a remake, which I was almost certain it wasn't...

I'm supposed to be going to see this to meet my friend's new boyfriend so she can be all over him and still see the film she wants to see. I don't particularly like zombie films, firstly cos I'm easier to scare than a paranoid 6-year-old, and secondly cos, y'know... Plot is good.
So... Will it scare me and is it good?
edit: Also, I believe it's Night of the Living Dead, not Night of the Dead. I could be wrong though.

I just saw this, and I really enjoyed it. Now, mind, I haven't seen any of Romero's other films, so I can't say how it compares, but honestly I thought it was great. The right gallows humour, the right pacing, the right social commentary. Good job.

Commie, Dawn of the dead the orginal ...not that remake, is well worth a watch. It's pretty dated, but still an outstanding movie ....seen it 3 times in the last 2 weeks ....on TV too
