Anyone play any MUDs?

I have been playing Avatar again recently. Well today...

I have a level 20 Elf Mage, and have just started with a new mage character that will (hopefully) be better than my level 20.

What say you people?

Errr... I'm not actually sure. Define "Multi-User Dungeon" in a little more depth, and I'll let you know. tongue.gif

If it's the same as mmorpg then yes. If it's anything similar to NWN, then no, and get thee behind me, Satan >.<

Heres a Wiki Article about MUDS

Basically you move around by selecting the direction, N(orth), E(ast),S(outh),W(est). The scren will give you a brief description of whats around, "You are in a room, there are two oranges in a fruitbowl by an open window." And you kill things.

Oh and there are lots of people who play similtaniously.

Not very good at describing it, but thats because I'm playing it right now and don't want to turn away.

Used to play Ancient Anguish, and ElephantMUD, both circa '95-'96. I was quite hooked on Ancient Anguish. Proper all-nighters in the uni computer room.

Sounds like some variation of a MUCK

Used to. Now I usually play MMORPG's. Everquest 2 or World of Warcraft. If I need my retro-gamer fix I'll organise a DnD fest with some mates and invite them around for beerage and goblin slaying. biggrin.gif

Meh. Most of 'em end up being "we're going to tell you half the commands" or "We're going to strand you in the middle of nowhere with crap weapons when you first log on".

I <3 teh mage class.
