Killzones the best out of those, but none of them are particularly good
haven't tried that starwars game
Mata
I haven't played any of those because they either didn't appeal or got pretty average reviews.

Exactly how do you go about comparing Brian Lara Cricket to Killzone?

LT, as a tip for future threads, if you want to make a 'which is best' poll please try and make the options of a similar type of thing, eg. Brian Lara Cricket, John Madden Football, Championship Manager, Tiger Woods Golf.

I prefer FPS games to sports games, so even though Brian Lara's Cricket is actually probably better than Killzone I would still probably get more enjoyment out of Killzone due to personal taste. You really can't make a proper decision about which is better when they are different things. That's like saying 'what's better: rocks or tea?'

Well, you can't drink rocks, but you can't build with tea... Hmm...
Daria
Obviously rocks are better. You can grind them up to make snad which can be turned into glass, which can make cups, from wich you can drink tea. Hurrah!
PsychWardMike
This is ridiculously esoteric.

I don't like any of them.

WHICH!!!!

not witch, which!

USE THE CORRECT WORD!!!

sorry, stuff like that gets to me rolleyes.gif

Dave, don't be a twit.
Mata
You can grind up rocks to make clay etc, but you still can't benefit from drinking it. Hell, you can make a cup with your hands without all the fuss of rock processing (just don't pour boiling water into them!) but tea cannot be recreated by the human body. And also, it's tea which instantly makes it better than a great deal of other things in the world.

Tell that to any builder that been to my house biggrin.gif
Mata
Ah, that's different. You're in Wales. It's always freezing up there. Your builder might be using frozen-tea bricks.

killzone was goood. (with 3 o's) i like the plot.

PS3 version looks very detailed.
Mata
Graphics are all very well and good, but I don't see much chance of new gameplay styles in the next generation of hardware yet. Ho hum.

That said, there are some tech demos out there that could render some brillant reconstructions of cups of tea. Rocks are pretty easy because they have static surfaces, but making a convincing simulation of tea is a challenge for real programmers.
Hobbes
As it is the only one that I have played, I chose NFSU2.

Thats cus its pre-renderd wink.gif
The problem with Killzone was over hyped, it's just an average fps yet it was made out to be some revolutinary game, and many people (my self included) where dissapointed with it

I think the revolution offers a hell of a good chance for new gameplay styles

Ah ha, that is where the Tea Simulation Programmers come in:- they are hired by animators, builders, rock specialists to ensure that each and every cup of tea looks real.
PsychWardMike
Hey Commie, would you mind altering it to "StarWARS Battlefield" over "starwas"? I mean, I know that it's set a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, but that's just silly.

Fair point. Yes, the Revolution really does have great potential for some very interesting gameplay styles; however, if it should be successful I'm positive that $ony and M$ will both develop a similar peripheral pretty quickly... Assuming that they're not already working on it, which they probably are. I'll be very interested to see if either of them bring out a clone of the peripheral before Nintendo get theirs to the market. The idea of sword fighting with your controller is great, so I'd be surprised if no-one else copied it.

This said, for the experience of the EyeToy, it's great fun to have such energetic games, but you can't just sit down with them for a few hours. I'll be very interested to see if Nintendo can produce games for hardcore gamers as well as the casual market.

Yes, they truly are the artisans of our time. So, in the next generation will we have the ultimate simulation of a cup of tea? We've been promised it for such a long time, 'oh yes, the emotion engine will produce virtual tea that feels like it's real!' but did it happen? No. Rocks, on the other hand, have been in games pretty much since they began. Almost no game has been devoid of at least a small pebble. Rocks are in the foundation of gaming, just next to the binary and below the hexidecimal.

Rocks clearly have a head-start when it comes to gaming, but what applications will the next generation consoles find for tea in games? Now that tea is becoming increasingly possible to simulate in a convincing manner we have to ask how this is going to effect game play. Will Tekken 6 feature a tea making move, where all the participants get together and have a nice chat to decide who will win the King of the Iron Tea-strainer Tournament (renamed for obvious reasons)? Will Lara Croft be seen slobbing around Croft Manor in a pair of baggy jogging trousers with a steaming mug of brew in her hands? There could be minigames where you have to navigate the stairs without spilling any. The possibilities are endless!
Daria
He he he, it gets sillier and sillier...
Mata
Silly? This is deadly serious! These things need to be resolved now, before the next hurricane strikes! What if someone were to be trying to prepare their building and mistakenly tried to weigh down objects with delicious refreshing tea, thinking that they might make a good substitute for rocks? Admittedly, a large enough quantity of tea would do the trick, but you would have to find a suitable container... Maybe a rock container filled with tea would be the perfect solution?

If you went for a tea that doesn't require milk then it would probably last quite well too. Sure it would get cold quite quickly, but the water would have been boiled so you could be sure that it would be sterile to drink for a while.

Tea and rocks, united in harmony to save mankind. Yep, that's the way things should be.

Rocks and crates! Don't forget the crates.

Look at Mario, look at Doom, Quake, Final Fantasy, the list goes on. They all have tonnes of crates. My personal theory is that the crates contain the tea. They had to get it in there for the success of the game but the tea rendering methods of the time just couldn't cope. The tea had to be hidden away in crates, its pre-cup stage of existance. This is why we need next generation consoles! The tea must be set free.
Mata
So in the next gen games there won't be any breaking of crates, just lots of sitting around drinking tea? Wow! I've always wanted to play Super Advanced House Removal Man Simulator!
haunted tape-dispenser
oh ay, the new systems will be powerful, but will they be able to differentiate between types of tea? what if bowser wants a two sugar cup of chai, but mario wants untouched red? surely the makers dont expect these two to be forced to drink the same kind of tea. holy moose, what if that is the story of the next game?
Daria
*jarring chord!*
No-one expects the Tea Inspectors!
These are crack team specialists (crack- rocks- crates etc etc get it? dry.gif ) who go around inspecting teas and making sure that everyone has a biscuit to dip.

They are the ones who fill the crates, and stack and re-stack for those special effects moments biggrin.gif
Mata
I can imagine cars crashing through whole crates of tea, the shredded leaves flying everywhere, rendering with astonishingly realistic particle physics engines... But all that tea, going to waste! Oh the humanity! They say that computer games need to generate more emotional responses, and such a criminal waste of tea would do the trick.

Oo, Grand Theft Tea! You control a wiley rapscallion who goes around randomly stealing people's cups of tea. The later levels would be great because you'd get a jet pack and be able to nick window cleaner's thermos flasks.
oobunnie
But there has been a game about tea.

It was super old school seirra PC. And your an elf that has to collect leafs and diamonds.

Grand Theft Tea?!!?! What kind of a world do you want to make this. Children running around thinking it's okay to steal tea because they do in a game. End of civilization I tell you.
Daria
Perhaps it could be a secret coded "cheat"- You can suddenly pause the game, and pull out a thermos and have an energsising tea break.
Mata
Biscuit dunking minigames... Or were they already in the Hot Coffee version?
Daria
Actualy, that reminds me. When I was a wee-er lass than I be now, I used to play on a game called Snavely on the mac. It was a glorified Snake game really, but one of the things you could pick up was a coffee mug, and it would make you go faster.
