I actually do say that. I am the spirit of Christmas-between-12/12-and-31/12.
Astarael
Thanks, CheeseMoose. Glad to hear that someone shares my philosophy on the scary two-month bloated mess that Christmas is becoming. I'm fine with people starting the day after Thanksgiving. That was a good tradition and it gave people some good sale shopping days. Unfortunately, Christmas keeps oozing further and further back into the year. I've gotten sick of seeing miniature Christmas trees and hearing Christmas muzak in early November. Curse all foul season-warping retailers! ph34r.gif

Around this time of year I begin to get in the mood for it. Maybe that's because I work in entertainment (which is essentially true) so I need to start planning things further in advance, so I've got a Mittens episode worked out for Christmas already.

As far as presents go: I'm not sure. I've not been very helpful this year with present suggestions. Mainly it's films that I've not picked up during the year, such as Ong Bak, Oldboy, Constantine, and Kung Fu Hustle. There are a few games that I'd like, but I'm not sure if I want to ask for them because I know they'll be 50% cheaper in a month or two, by which time I will probably have completed them anyway. It's not been a year where I've really lusted after many material things, which makes it a lot more difficult for me to justify suggesting things for other people to buy me.
Calantyr
Probably money. I'm not big on getting gifts. As long as it's shown that I'm cared for I don't really mind.

I hope to go to the US in the coming year so every little saved is good.
Sir Psycho Sexy
Dunno what I'm getting, not asked for anything yet. I wouldn't mind a digital camera though. Seeing as I don't have one and I seem lost without it now. An Xbox 360 would be REALLY great....but a little expensive me-thinks.
Snugglebum the Destroyer
I have actually cancelled Christmas this year. Well, Kai can have presents but everyone else will have to wait until I've finished renovating my house. Although, the rate it's going that may just be in time for next Christmas... huh.gif

So, without going off on one, I will be getting nothing this year. Which is fine.

P.S - Forever Unknown, could you tell Mum and your lot just to concentrate on Kai this year. I'm still on the old 'If I can't manage my money properly, I don't deserve presents'. Ta love.
gothictheysay
Santa never gives me anything.

...But I'm Jewish, so. tongue.gif When my sisters and I buy each other presents, it's usually a surprise. I think it's the same this year with my dad. It's possible I'll be getting a few big things, or maybe just one big thing... I got my mp3 player stolen, so it's possible he bought me another one. I haven't asked for much - usually I like surprises or money, because it's easier than requesting specific CDs or books (which is all I want nowadays anyways).
Astarael
Most likely a load of Sandman books (seeking 3-10 and the extras,) some paperback fantasy, and some money. Usually I have a lot, but the past few years I haven't really wanted all that much, though I'm very happy with with what I got and what some of my surprise presents turned out to be. smile.gif Some of my family members are very good at determining my tastes.
MrTeapot
I'm hoping for a Digital Camera too, but I'm not really asking for anything.

How the hell should i know springs instantly to mind upon reading this post.
*tries to think of something*
Well £1000 for a shiney new pc would be nice. But that will not be happening. A car would be nice, but that wont be happening. Right now I'm focusing on scratching enough money together to buy presents for my far too large a family whilst working out who would be least offended by the lack of presents. So not too concerned about what i might get.

But me turning 18 almost straight after should mean i end up with something.
Astarael
Eh, my dad's birthday is in late December, but he tends to get presents that are supposed to count for Christmas and his birthday. I try to be sure to get him separate presents for each occasion, which seems to cheer him up. smile.gif Some years he gets a bit cranky about getting his birthday ignored in the holiday rush.
Kitty
This year I'm not sure. Last year I didnt want _anything_ and got a bit upset when I got stuff o.0; I'm odd like that. This year the only thing I know I want is a pack of cards from the National Art Gallery that have Matisse/Picaso/Calder (I think it was thoes three....) works of art printed on them, and a pair of leather pants. Both of which I know I wont get because it never works out that way. I'll most likely get some cloths and pens or something strange (I do like office supplies, really)

I'm more concentrating on what to get other people this year, since I acctually have money....

EDIT: My dad _does_ owe me a trip to New York.... I might use the owed trip-christmas-break from school combination to go on a little trip, that would be nice.
Righteous
THis is sad.

My family cannot buy presents for each other worth a damn. My brother and I took the initiative and print out "Gift Lists" for Christmas and our birthdays, which have on them way more than what we actually expect to get. We keep them updated throughout the year and tell our folks to distribute them to the extended family if they plan on getting us anything. We'll probably be doing this until we're in our thirties.

An actual copy:

James’s X-mas List

If you go to Guitar Center, please use my account “Tragick the Clown” so that I can earn discounts. Have our address ready. When in doubt, ask Rick or one of the guys. Everything with an asterisk is what I want most. Please distribute this list to the rest of the family.

Once again, we don't expect to get all of this stuff, but it's good for when I'd rather not another Tommy Hilfiger fleece from my uncle.

Wow thats a long list... I remember making xmas lists when i was younger, they normally consisted of about 15 things i'd seen around. I stopped writing them when i realised that I never got anything on them. Its always easier to give a teenager money. At least thats what my family figures.

Hanukkah's starting on the same day as Christmas this year! (I think..)

All I want is to be taken to a lots road auction and to buy an antique desk.
voices_in_my_head
I haven't really put that much thought into it, but I suppose that there's a few CD's that I'd like to get... and maybe a rechargable battery for my camra.

Well, dude, like I said: I don't expect to get all of this stuff. I'll keep it around and edit it if I get the gifts or buy them myself. This should last way past my birthday.

Recently a friend asked me what to get. She's broke, so I told her to get me a patch for my jacket. Coming from her, it would mean more than anything on my list.

Chainmaille?

I found a pair of boots I really really really really want. The silly thing is, I could have gotten a fairly similar pair for about $30, but my parents aren't very smart, so now if they want to stop my mindless rants about the victorian boots I need for my prom (which isnt for another year and a half at any rate....) then they get to spend $180 some....
I'm going to have dreams about these boots, I'm serious. I dont think I've liked something material so much before, its scary

But I want either a #7 or #14 heel: http://www.lorians.com/heels.htm

Yes, chainmaille.

Also crossing my fingers for 14 pounds of aluminum wire tongue.gif... That'll be something like 100,000 rings. Mainly because it's on sale - it's partially etched and left over stock.

Wish my sisters were that generous tongue.gif We usually spend about $20-$40 on each other and end up okay. I was broke last year so I have to make up for "inferior" presents this year. Even my dad said so. I guess the thought doesn't really count, hmph.

Of course not. It's all about how much the thing cost tongue.gif
nah, what kind of inferior presents could you give? Anything for free is good for me tongue.gif
