A completely unbaised poll to judge forum views.

Why, Ben Kenobi would whup the fuffy one's arse from Degobah to Hoth and back!
After all, he's not as clumsy or as random as a rabbit!

But what if there was a bottle of whiskey in the room? I suspect Kenobi might be distracted...

Dec 20 2005, 02:33 PM
Tricky. Samurai Lapin would win, at first, but then Obi-Wan would become more powerful than Lapin could possibly imagine. Which may count as a draw.
Mata
Dec 20 2005, 03:31 PM
That's a fair point. I suspect that Lapin would start quoting eastern philosophy, Kenobi would start saying 'oo, that sounds familiar, a bit like all that guff I say about "the force"', and they'd get into a discussion and have a nice cup of tea.
I've added a 'draw' option to the poll.

I have to go with obi wan as he, well, has a lightsaber. Whilst i respect Lapin and honour his ancestors, his katana just 'ain't up to blocking a lightsaber. that and obi probably has the highground.

Lapin - since he can obviously pass as a stuffed animal, he'd be able to hide in plain sight, Obi-Wan would never know what hit him.

Dec 21 2005, 12:27 AM
Obi Wan, hands down. He'd just use the Jedi Mind Trick and make Lapin like him.
That or hack him to bits with his mastery of the jedi fighting styles.

Lapin - I've never seen Star Wars.

Dec 21 2005, 09:48 PM
Ooh, that's a tricky one. Obi-Wan has a lightsaber and the Force on his side. Lapin is smaller, faster, and can predict things in his environment.
If they didn't start quoting philosophy and chat peacefully, Lapin would win because he can predict the actions of those around him before they happen. If he can determine the path of a single snowflake and the exact time Ozaki would some out to talk, he could easily counter anything Obi-Wan could do with the Force. I know that the Force allows you to live in the moment, but Lapin's talent borders on precognition.

Holy crap, Mata!
I can't believe you started a poll for this!! Did you get that from me? 'Cause I believe I said something about this in the "Questions on Lapin" thread.

Ha, ha! So cool!!!
I think Lapin and Obi-Wan should join forces. They strike me as somewhat equal, though Obi-Wan has been around longer than Lapin, and he has the Force. Hmm, I'll just vote both. *click!*

It seemed like a good idea for a poll

Aw, thanks!
Y'know, that gets me to thinkin'...
What if you made an eppy where Lapin meets an awesome warrior of as great skill as him, and they team up or something? I mean, Lapin says he's "The Last," but is he really? I like to think there are still others out there like him, a scattered dying breed, like the Jedi!!!
It sounds good to me, anyway...

Ben Kenobi.
Lightsabers tear metal at the same rate they tear air, Lapin's sword would be history on first strike.
A more suitable poll ... Lapin or Samurai Jack?

Samurai Jack

Lapin can own everyone (unless we want to get into lightsabers.) I don't know so much about Jack, but Lapin is capable of predicting things as subtle as the falling of a single snowflake and as unpredictable as the actions of someone whom he has only recently started training (unless there was a big time lapse between 3 and 4- please correct me if I'm wrong, Mata.) He could figure out Jack's weaknesses and predict them in order to thrash Jack soundly.

I'm down with Commie, though Obi-Wan would have a bit of an advantage if they used lightsabers instead of katanas.

Ah, yes...
Then I should probably tell you...
There's an episode of Samurai Jack where he's trying to reach a magical well that will grant him any wish, but it's heavily guarded by three archers who are the deadliest archers EVER; despite the fact that they're completely blind, their ears make up for it and then some. Seeing that his work is cut out for him, Jack sits under a waterfall and meditates (IN THE SNOW, by the way) on it. Looking back on his training, he realizes he must fight the way they do. So he blindfolds himself and sharpens his senses, rising himself to their level. In this way, he is able to dodge their arrows and reach the well...something else happens after that, but that's beside the point.
My point is that Jack can adapt to his environment just as well as Lapin can.

So, kick-butt as Lapin is, Jack would make more than a formidable opponent.
Mata

Oo, I've not seen that one. Well, snow is quite a pleasing thing to animate so I'm not surprised they've used it too.

Jan 19 2006, 03:31 PM
Trust me, sensei:
It is one of THE coolest episodes Ever.
Oh, and did I mention: Jack fights the archers without his robe on. He runs through all that snow,
blindfolded, wearing nothing but his underwear and his sword.
Cool, huh?
Mata
Jan 19 2006, 03:51 PM
Cool? Positively freezing, I'd say.
Astarael
Jan 19 2006, 10:03 PM
I suppose than stripping to your underwear in the snow might allow you to sense air currents from arrows coming at you, but I don't think you would feel the air until too late, especially if you were freezing from wearing no clothes. But TV and the Internet are excused from logic, so that's okay.
I'll watch an episode of Samurai Jack sometime and see what it's all about.

Ever consider using Enya music for any of your animations???

Don't you like her anymore?
And a random question about Ozaki: How old is she supposed to be? Is she a teenager or something? Or is she just one of those ageless characters? 'Cause in episode 2, we get the impression that she's younger than Lapin, so does she fall under any age group, or is she just ageless?

Hello Mata, I'm still alive, yes.

. Hi Angel

we would also need to know how old is Lapin, if he is something like a young samurai, or a, as it somehow suggests by his need/concern for a pupil, somehow aging swordmaster.

Nulled my vote. That's EXACTLY what I think would happen. I just can't see them fighting each other, so therefore it doesn't matter who could whup who's furry butt.

But do rabbits drink tea?
Astarael
Mar 31 2006, 02:49 AM
If the rabbit in question is named Peter and the tea happens to be camomile, then certainly. The tea-drinking practices of Samurai Lapin will have to remain a mystery until Mata enlightens us, though.

Rurouni Kenshin...I used to love that show, until some idiots took it off cartoon network about 2 yrs ago....What was the name of that one guy with the red headband, brown hair, about Kenshin's age, and the really big sword? I thought he was the coolest

I don't know. The only character I know is Kenshin...I've only seen like part of one eppy, so I don't think I qualify as an official fan...Meh...
But I am an unofficial fan of Inuyasha! Now THERE'S a guy who could give Lapin a run for his money!!!!

According to Google Fight, it's the Jedi.
Obi Wan Kenobi - 3,700,000 results
Samurai Lapin - 63,600 results

Surely the only way that the fight could ever take place is if Obi-Wan tries to kill Lapins Master, Can't see Obi-Wan ever going after a young kid so no fight. Draw by default.

Isn't Samurai Lapin only the height of a pencil? Maybe that would influence things somewhat.
Especially since Obi-Wan has often shown the ability to throw about pencil sized things will-nilly.
Astarael
May 15 2006, 08:40 PM
Size is no indication of power. You can't move something around if it lands silently on the back of your neck and disconnects your spinal cord with one blow.

Stealth is a key factor in many fights, so SL's lesser hit rating is not necessarily a bad thing.
