Two days.. to topics started.. fantastic stuff.

For those that don't know about winter-een-mas, it's a fairly geeky young celebration day for gamers everywhere. A day to celebrate computer games and being a gamer. Read more about it here and here.

In the first link it was talking about the idea if writing letters to game developers saying thanks. I was recently talking with a friend about the idea of writing letters of thanks to the game developers. He said that it was the most stupid thing he'd ever heard of. They make their money, why do they need thanks.
I think the idea of just sending thanks is great, geeky or not. Just seems like a neat idea to me, I sure know if I was a game developer it'd bring a smile to my face to get someone saying thanks to me for ideas I had come up with an implemented.
It's not like lavishing them with gifts, it's just a letter saying "cheers, and good job". So.. what do you guys think.. silly nonsense, or a good idea that is just some fun?

I celebrate Winter-een-mas by playing video games and stuff with my friends. They seem to have started early this year, See today's CAD. WEMas is a great celebration, something for the geeks and gamers in society to do that no-one else understands... much like everything else we do.

Sounds like a bit of a laugh and some fun for people who like playing video games of all sorts. I know a few people who will most likely be celebrating. The letters sound nice, but I'd only send a few.

It's a brilliant idea for celebration, considering the joy it helps to spread and the imaginations it lets soar.
