Don't forget mushrooms - the recreational drug of choice for many poor, bored country folk. All you need is fresh air and a hillside, and sheep droppings seem to help.

I've never done mushrooms, but I have picked them with my friend and her mum as there was a field behind her grandma's house where they used to grow.

It would be funnier if the headline was "Goffs", and more relevant if it read "Emos". Damn those dirty emos.

"80% of Emos more likely to think they're Goth"? tongue.gif

So as the backlash against goth and emo we're going to have a generation of accountants? Interesting thought.

Am I going out too much on a limb, or does anyone else see this as a possible distinction between UK and US culture?

I can see many many more of my goth/"alternative" friends being accountants than the scene kids, being as how the thoughtful, rational thinking ones tend to be the goths in my social circles. So people who are likely to be accountants are also the ones who rebel by being goths, so rebellion becomes fashionable, so people rebel by being accountants? On the plus side, everyone will know EXACTLY where their money is tongue.gif

I don't know enough about American culture to answer that question for sure, but I know enough about British culture to know that TV shows set in Britain are nothing like British culture, and am therefore forced to assume that American sitcoms/dramas are a poor way to judge differences between British and American youth culture.

(and its pot as well, probably more than the Brits because...I don't know why? Why don't you seem to like pot as much, Brits?)

What? Who told you that? Weed is the drug of choice for most of the drug-taking people I know, including me. I think the thing is, like Beccles said, we have this amazingly materialsitic culture which is all about showing how rich and awesome you are, so if you've got that kind of mindset you go for coke or whatever. Especially as it's trivially easy to get hold of coke. If I'm being perfectly honest, the real reason I went for weed in the first place was because my mindset and musical taste gravitates somewhere back in hippy times, and it just goes with the image.

AND THESE THINGS ARE ALL ILLEGAL AND I'M NOT CONDONING USE OR PURCHASE OF THEM BEFORE SOMEONE ATTACKS MATA FOR LETTING PEOPLE LIKE ME ON HIS FORUM WITH *GASP* OPINIONS.
