Yes, I know there's already a thread for this, but it's old and filled with things that no-one will bother to read through

I'm a guild member of the guild Roses of Dawn, started out as a Diablo 2 clan a good five years ago. We were in the ULGD, we were a hugely well-known guild in Dark Age of Camelot, the majority of the hib/prd guild officers and members in DAoC went on to join us in Star Wars Galaxies, and now we're one of the biggest guilds on the Europe servers in WoW. We are a very nice guild. We have a sponsored application process and very strict rules about swearing and niceness and stuff. Our gulid motto is For Fun and Friendship. our time in WoW is looking likely to be coming to an end soon and Guild Wars is looking to be the next likely candidate. </background>

RoD is run by my stepmum, and my dad is an officer. This means, that whilst I get automatic membership to Roses, I also have no opportunity to *not* be in Roses. I love my dad dearly, and Roses is a great guild with a lovely bunch of people, but I find my stepmum a little hard to deal with sometimes. I am also a little fed up of (due to the fact I can't play online games at mum's and I'm only at dad's once a fortnight atm), being constantly treated like a noob by the people who only joined Roses in WoW, and having my dad and stepmum know more people then me and more about the games than me. It basically means that all of the decent people on our server treat me like a kind, even though I'm often older than them, just because I'm Astrakhan's daughter and Mymosa's stepdaughter and they play with "M and A" all the time.

I have just bought Guild Wars, having tested it on my dad's account and loved it, and I'm thinking I'd quite like to move on slightly before they do and see about maybe not being in Roses this time (And not having my stepmother constantly looking over my shoulder). I'm going to Uni, so I should be able to get a reasonable amount of playtime in. What happened to the Matazone guild? Did it die? And if so, are there any decent guilds worth joining on the European servers? I'm not averse to being unguilded, but it is kinda nice to have friends and things so you're not constantly in dodgy pickup groups. I don't play PvP.

Guild Wars guilds are very hit and miss, you'll see people advertising in local chat, ignore them, they're usually full off 15 year olds. A good PvE guild may be quite hard to come by, I wouldn't know, I've not tried to find one. I say that because GW is a very PvP based game...seriously.
If you're going to be pugging it, might I recommend you take monk as a primary profession (mesmer's a good secondary), every team needs a monk or two, it's not a hard profession to play in PvE, and with Nightfall coming out soon you may well get picked up by a worthwhile guild playing through the missions.

Oh, and the Matazone guild never really got off the ground. Very few people playing.

You sure you don't want to play PvP?

Don't worry Gothic Angel, I never really play much PvP myself, never cared much for it as I've rarely a team worth playing with. Plus, I don't think I'm especially good at it, though practice has helped minimally. There are PvE guilds out there, though as SPS mentioned it can be hard to find one not full of immature players.

I run a small guild just of me and my real-life friends, all of us mostly PvE, so maybe starting your own might be a good idea. Besides, guild leadership seems to be a part of your pedigree.

I remember the Matazone guild back when it was in Beta. I liked that game. What's new with it? I'm obviously out of the loop.

Have you thought of setting up a new WoW character on a differnt sever to your Dad and Step mum when you go to Uni? I'd be more than happy to give you my details and we could meet up. Just a surgestion.

Cath: I have a hoarde character on Dunemaul, and I fully intend to keep playing WoW, fear not I'd quite like to reach the level cap in something other than D2 for once. It's always a pleasure to play with (IN A NON-SEXUAL WAY, before anyone says anything) someone from MZ anyway

SPS - I have been playing mmorpgs since I was old enough to be safely allowed to use the net, I'm well aware how *not* to find a good guild

Well I'm Alli on Defias Brotherhood (RP/PVP) I'm not much good at PVP either so I dont worry about it a great deal (apart from being order to improve my ranking so I can get cool stuff) and I'm Horde on Scarshield Legion (RP/PVP).

gah! I've been successfully away from the game for about two weeks now, and people are just getting into it? I'm currently a (non-active) member of a top-100 guild called the Ghostly Zeroes [zEn] atm, but I don't play with them competitively anymore. I'll be buying Nightfall and playing it through and I prefer pve to pvp, simply because the moan level is lower (and there are less gimmick builds). I might be up for a new guild, especially if its with folk I know. The matazonian guild never did get off the ground (though I still have all its members in my friends list), but it would be nice to get something resembling it up and running at some point. If you guys need a pro warrior/assassin or a decent monk/mesmer then count me in.

The idea would probably be just to create a guild of nice people, not an exclusively Matazonian one. It just seems to have more potential to continue existing that way

How about you both join me Ally side on the pve server, and ill twink you both like you have never seen. Currently have a 60 hunter, 60 rogue, 60 pally (i raid with him ZQ/AQ20/AQ40 2nd boss/BWL (nef)) and a 60 mage. Got a 32 shammy too, but Shadowsong's horde AH needs a UN resolution for aid.

In my defence, it was in the top 100 when I checked, and positions that high change very easily. And indeed, the coincidence of us ending up in the same alliance was indeed a strange one.
