Hi all,
I'm using Zone Alarm at the moment, but I'm not convinced that it's the best thing available.
My requirements are simple:
does its job
plays nicely with utorrent
easy to configure for wireless streaming
doesn't constantly bug me
it's free!
Zone Alarm seems to act a bit weirdly around utorrent, not amazingly odd, just bringing up messages about odd port requests. That could be it functioning properly, but I'm still curious to find out what other people use.
(And don't bother suggesting Norton!)

I use Sygate Firewall, which is free for personal use.
I've never had any problems with it, but it's not for you if you hate high volumes of Allow/Deny? pop ups. Don't use utorrent myself so I don't know whether or not it'll like it, but the wireless config was easy enough.

I used to use that, but it was the constant 'do you want your machine to do anything at all?' pop-ups that made me go elsewhere. It's a damn good firewall, but an awful piece of software for users who just want something to shut-up and stay in the background.

If you have an old machine lying around there are some Linux distros that turn it into a firewall.

I don't fancy using two machines when one is bad enough for the environment as it is. It's a good suggestion, because it would make a kick-arse firewall, but it's not what I'm looking for.

I have a really good one that BT use, I think it's a UK only company if you haven't heard of it, but if you search on the internet you'll see it's a big company. I know someone who used to work for them and they told me about it, it has better performance than ones you can actually but in shops, but I'm not sure if i's better than all of them, but the best I've heard off.
It's called AVG Virus Protection and it works computer virus miricles, search it on google and it should bring up the main website which you can download it from.

grisoft don't provide a firewall application though, do they? At least, not a free one, I don't think. On a side note, I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a way to get Sygate working on Windows Shinybutincompatable? I do so miss it.

They do, that's what I have on my computer right now. I can't remember how to get to the page that you download it on, thats why I said to search on google rather than giving a link.
