Some of you probably know about the arwing in the Legened of zelda: Ocarina of time. For those who don't, heres a picture:

How do I do this?
Forever Unknown
That picture explains everything!

I'm guessing he means how do you activate some sort of cheat that spawns Arwings from the game Lylat Wars in that game. Just a guess lyke. :s

Actually someone found a way to replace the kokori children with anything else of the game cartridge. And there just so happened to be an arwing.
Mata
Err... Are you sure that this isn't a joke?
michael1384
It's not a joke, its something to do with gameshark, but i'm not sure what to buy.

It looks like they've hacked together two games somehow, or possibly hacked it to reveal some hidden code (like the 'hot chocolate' code in GTA San Andreas).
michael1384
Yes. The hidden code. I think I know what to do now. I have to buy an action replay cartridge.

That would make sense. In most games there will only be a few bytes of data used to set the actual type of an 'object' in the game world (though a lot more representing information about the object). Someone could easily have added them in as a joke and left them unused in any of the game data. Action Replays and other cheat devices just work by changing bits of data in certain ways, for example the memory location where it stores how many lives you have is a classic example. Definitely a lot more feasible than the 'someone hacked together the two games' suggestion which is impractical for many a technical reason that I won't go into.

I'm intrigued as to how someone found this though, must have taken a lot of experimentation, blind luck or whoever added them leaking info on how to make them appear.

Either way it doesn't really seem worth buying an Action Replay for. tongue.gif

I'm still going to get one. Someone found a huge concrete wall that emitted a low humming noise. That sounded random enough for my interest.
michael1384
Found out what it is. They put it on the cartridge to test the "z-targeting".

If you get really good at working out what makes game code tick then you might get a good career out of it. On the other hand, you might get arrested for breaking protected encryption routines. Hm.
