Okay so I know this has been suggested before but it's a good idea and although it never happened I'm pretty sure that was down to a lack of organisation not enthusiasm. What am I suggesting? Well, if you can't guess from the topic heading... a camping meet!

Preliminary evidence (aka IRC) shows the idea to be well received and a possible date of the first weekend in July (4th, 5th, 6th) gained positive response.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be somewhere relatively central (easy train access from pretty much anywhere) and we will probably need a few people with cars to ferry people as campsites and train stations are generally not proximal to one another and tents can be heavy. Another essential consideration is how "large, noisy group" friendly campsites may or may not be. We need to be relatively rural so that we don't keep the neighbourhood up all night with our drunken frolics.

So, with that in mind... does anybody have any suggestions for campsites, dates or anything else? I'm happy to make enquiries with possible campsites if people send me details but a general show of hands would be good to start with!

A friend of mine's dad owns a campsite in Sunny Suffolk. There's a train station not too far away, and it's a really cool place. You can even have open fires, and there's the option of camping in the field or the woods!

Oh yes! Ryn and I'd definately be up for this! It mixes the elements of park based meet, andcamping and sitting around a campfire getting merrily schlozzled - although that last bits always grand when camping.
I used to know of a couple of sites where we essentially had a corner of a field to yourself if that' swhat you wanted to book. hmmm, will look in to as well although if there are already connections that'd maybe be better

I am potentially up for this, but I'd really want it to be during the hotter part of the year!

Also potentially up for it. But futures a little wooly at the moment so cant say any more. But I have a car but no tent. This also might be do able for Wyvern and co.

What's wrong with July? It tends to be quite a good time for camping because the temperature generally doesn't drop as significantly at night as it does later in the summer.

Just need lots of time for preparation, which is why I bought it up now.

I know a place where you can hire huge teepee's (resist...resist...) that can sleep rather large groups. It is on the Isle of White, which is not exactly central mind you...
