I didn't get a card this year, but then Sues is rather under the weather at the moment and didn't want to leave the house to go and find one, which is fair enough. I made us a joint card (so I guess I got half of one).

We don't buy presents on Valentine's day because it's just another day and we always seem to be skint at this time of year.

Did you get any cards? Presents? Wild declarations of undying passion? Suggestively shaped packages and a pack of AA batteries?

Hurrah! Happy Valentines day all round! ACCEPT MY AFFECTION, MORTALS!

My plans for the day include:

-Give emotional support and advice to my legion of friends who seem to think I am an expert on relationships. Whether I want to or not (for the record I do not).

-Celebrate being single and hence neatly side-stepping all this insane melodrama.

-Probably go to a club later tonight and partying hard while watching couples break up, get back together, cry, and generally amuse me heartily. Pun intended.

Yay!

Also, brilliant stuff as usual, Mata. smile.gif

Why on earth is a strapping young gent with GSOH single? The world is lala bonkers.

moop and I don't really do Valentine's Day except to send one another funny anti-Valentines (homemade or e-cards). I'm not a fan of how commercial it is, and don't like the sense of obligation to do something romantic.

Happy Valentine's Day to those who do enjoy it, though, and happy Singles Awareness Day to those who don't. biggrin.gif

Singles Awareness Day has an unfortunate acronym.

I don't think I've bought a Valentines card... Possibly ever. I'm pretty good with pictures and a craft knife so I usually make my cards. I think it means a lot more when it's taken you hours to create something unique compared to spending ten minutes browsing in Super-Global-Cards-Corp-Store-#2758.

I think so too. Mass-produced sentiments aren't usually all that special.

I've bought lots and lots of Valentine's cards, though none as an adult. They were all in elementary school, when we had to buy/make valentines cards for the whole class.

Let's see, about 30 kids per class, and we did the VD (hehe, speaking of unfortunate acronyms) thing up until 6th grade, so that's 180ish cards. Well, they were the cheap ones that come in packs of 40 for $2, but still. I hated that practice so much. I would sift through all of them, looking for the least mushy ones to hand out to all of the boys, lest they think that I liked them. I think that's possibly where I got the impression that February 14th was just an annoying obligation to do something sweet and that it wasn't as genuine as random displays of affection. Curse you, elementary school!

My boyfriend and I don't really do much for valentines day except say 'happy valentines day' but he made me a cute little heart thing and sent it to me just after midnight biggrin.gif

Awwwww, that's the nicest thing anyone's said to me today. I feel like I should get you a card now. smile.gif

Happy Valentines all.

I quite like valentines, I suppose it's the most easiest celebration to make your own, since beyond getting a card everything else is up to the people who want to be involved.

Sadly for annoying reasons I am not able to do as much as I'd like for valentines this year.

Still I had a fairly pleasant (if uneventful) day.

The end to the perfect valentines day is my first trip to the gym in probably about 2 years. Did a very small amount of cardio, and if i would have done anymore I think I'd be sick right now. Its nice to know how out of shape I am!

Hope everyone had a good Valentines Day !

I just don't see the major deal in this oh so glorious of days. You can share "happiness" anyday of the year. Like October 10 for instance. Everyone at school was all cheery and exctied like some gas leak was released into the air causing us all to be mindless puppets. I knew it would happen someday; the schoolboard just had to choose the right day. Wait...so dosn't that mean I was affected by the gas leak too? Anyways on an unrelated topic, I've decided to sell a new fatburner in my now shortened life. I shall call it "HAPPINESS"

I had a very strange Valentine's Day. Woke up all excited about finally taking my driver's test, received one of those anonymous flowers in school, and then found out that the two other driving-folk in my family drove away with both cars and left me unable to take the test, and that the flower was from a boy with Down's Syndrome who sometimes holds the door for me. Not much romance in that.

I did get a nice little index-card-pop-up-card, though.

Heh, I think you might be the only one to get that right away

Wow. So. I actually got something for Valentine's day? Which I totally did not expect as the boy is...broke.

And me, being completely and totally unromantic, did not mind that fact. So I was talking to him on IM the day before, we got on the topic of postsecret and how much I love that website.

The next day he shows up at my front door with the Postsecret book. A $30 book, for me. I pretty much happy-danced all day long.

I agree that the mass-media must-have-a-boyfriend thing of Valentine's is completely ridiculous. Since when has a $2.00 card and half-dead roses said "I love you."?

Homemade gifts and things that show you actually listen (Can you tell I'm extremely happy with him right now?) are always best, I think.
Plus...Valentine's celebrates love, so why not show your friends the lurve? wink.gif

Hah. Sleep deprived? Yeah. I'll shut up now.
