You Could Easily Have Me - Metronomy. RIFF!!!
Start To End - Sons And Daughters. Mellow Scots #1 - a lot of the stuff from 'Love The Cup' is a lot more slow and steady than the tunes on my personal fave 'The Repulsion Box', but it's good. It's aaaaall good.
Easily Fooled - Pavement. Live version. The Zenmeister likes the Pavement live cuts...
Go Out And Get 'Em Boy! - Wedding Present. The Present brought out a boxset called 'Registry' containing classic stuff and odds 'n' ends. I bought it for my wife for her birthday the year we got married. See what I did there? It's damn good gear, I must say.
Dory Previn - Camera Obscura. Mellow Scots #2 - you cannae go wrong with the Obscura.

Yes, I see what you did there Inky. A wedding present of "Wedding Present". Very good. I'm sure Dave Gedge would be proud of you. I, however, didn't do anything so cheesy on my wedding year. Largely because I've pretty much covered their history as it is.
Anyway, here's my shuffled-up bunch, before I go for the train:
Moby - South Side. I like this one, as it happens.
The Jam - Going Underground. Another fine tune.
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Is This Love. And another good one! Can we keep this up, I wonder?
Source feat. Candi Staton - You Got The Love. How many times has this been remixed and re-released? About 34, by my calculations. The original is still the best one in my view. And alas, this isn't it.
Simply Red - Thrill Me. Now, do I confess to the whole of Matazonia that I like this song?
Well, this is the first time I've used my media centre to shuffle music (but only cos I've just figured out how to shuffle on it) and it's turned out okay on the whole.
Oooh, and my new media streamer just arrived too! To think, if I'd got the earlier train, I'd have missed it!

Wet Thursday quartet plus one:
Judy Garland - Anything You Can Do. Annie, get your gun.
Sisters Of Mercy - Body And Soul. This is the unmixed, unproduced bootleg version from the equally bootleggy album "Some Boys Wander By Mistake".
New Order - Angel Dust
Jamiroquai - King For A Day
The Mission - Heat. I often wonder why these guys get tagged as "The Mission UK". I didn't realise there was another one. I've seen the same with The Chameleons as well. But oddly, not The Charlatans, who do exist as entirely separate groups either side of the Pond.

New Order - Angel Dust
Jamiroquai - King For A Day
Very Faith No More. And yet not.
Thursday lunchbreak fivesome:
This Is It, Forever - Hood. Woo. Cheerful...
Yeah (Crass Version) - LCD Soundsystem. A bit more upbeat, there
Meat Grinder - Madvillain. Yay for weird-hop
Surprise! You're Dead! - Faith No More. Hah! Nice coincidence. Or was it?
Loud And Clear - Longpigs. Much underrated in the Britpop fallout. 'Mobile Home' is a corking album.

What comes between fear and sex? Why, my Monday morning fünf, that's what!
The Kooks - Ooh La
Papa Roach - Dead Cell
Neil Sedaka - Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
Jane's Addiction - Obvious
Paolo Nutini - It Must Be Love. More in the mould of the Labi Siffre original than the Madness cover, which is no bad thing.
Not too shabby. And sunshine as well, so it's all good.

Tuesday fivesome:
Clan of Xymox - Creature. The Clan's "Creatures" album is my favourite one, so having this one come out is completely fine by me.
Neneh Cherry - Beastiality
Bloodhound Gang - A Lapdance Is So Much Better When The Stripper Is Crying. Offensive lyrics to a backbeat of the "Casio Bossanova". One of those songs where you know you shouldn't laugh, but you just can't help yourself.
Lydon / Leftfield - Open Up. Funny to think that, at one time, Johnny Rotten would've spat on bands who peddled dance music and called them "a bunch of c***s"...
Tori Amos - Parasol

The Sweetest Girl - Scritti Politti[/b]
Corks! Bit of eighties there dude.
My random five:
Five Star - Another Weekend
Bros - I Owe You Nothing Ru-oh!
Tiffany - I Saw Him Standing There God, you can HEAR John Lennon spinning in his grave when you play this song. In fact, you can also just make out Paul Macca jumping into his and doing some pre-death rotations too. This song is THAT bad!
Taylor Dayne - Tell It To My Heart Fortunately, this song makes up for the last one.
Desireless - Voyage VoyageAlthough, realistically, this isn't that random. It's hard to do random tracks from a cassette. Anyone with sufficient age and a back-catalogue of eighties compilation albums would possibly recognise this as the latter end of the first side of the eighth Hits album. Which is what I'm currently churning through Audacity in order to get rid of more stuff. Although from this bit of the list it's hard to see why I'm bothering...

Oh god, the mention of Scritti Politti made me cringe. Have either of you listened to his offerings of White Bread Black Beer (or something like that)?
It is gash. Total and utter gash.
And talking of 80s music, I was watching Grosse Pointe Blank last night (yes I watch late night movies on the Beeb.) and it has an amazing soundtrack. Like... all my love of the 80s, rolled up into one little ball of awesome.
(Here's where I have to admit to not ever seeing it before >_<)
I don't have a random selection today. I have no mass of music in an HD at the moment, so it's records and CDs for me.

Aug 19 2008, 01:56 PM
As it happens, Daria, I haven't. To be honest, following Green's career path wasn't one of my priorities in life. I dare say that most people felt the same way; if not put off by his thin, wispy vocal which pretty much limits his vocal scope, then the very fact he calls himself "Green" should do it. And what about the vague imagery: How does someone's flesh and blood become the word? How exactly does Aretha Franklin pray? Answers on a postcard please...

Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers - Why Do Fools Fall In Love I absolutely love this song, especially the trumpet solo
The Beatles - I'm Happy Just To Dance With You

To break up InKy's posts a bit...
Bear McCreary - Prelude to War (from BSG Season 2) I blame Paul for this, he spent time alone with my laptop and I ended up with piles of geeky soundtrack music. It's kinda nice and chilled though so I don't mind.
God is an Astronaut - When Everything Dies Less geeky, more chilled.
The Union Underground - Until You Crack Not chilled. Would it help to mention I can hear my dad listening to Dance of the Cuckoos in the kitchen in the background
The Eagles - After the Thrill is Gone I really like The Eagles, remind me of car journeys when I was little.
Broken Social Scene - Stars and Sons Happy music! In the weird upbeat BSS sense of happy music...
Well, there was me thinking it was going to be a chilled selection, proves not to judge before the end of the second track!
(P.S.InKy, I am looking for Autumn driving to work playlists, any suggestions?)

snoo - I'm a life-long pedestrian, so driving tunes aren't really my thing. I'd say Broken Social Scene have got a good autumnal vibe, and Arcade Fire's 'Funeral' would be a good punt. I tend to get in the mood for Trail Of Dead in autumn too, especially 'Worlds Apart'.
Time for my randomness:
Pulp - The Night That Minnie Timperley Died. One of my favourite Pulp tunes, from their often-ignored swansong, 'We Love Life'
Joan As Police Woman - The Ride
Super Furry Animals - No Sympathy. Acoustic folk strum mutates into techno meltdown - what's not to love? Actually, 'Rings Around The World' would be good for autumnal driving...
