Does anyone know how to make one? I like the way you can shoot people with fire extinguishers, but they're not very practical to carry around. I was wondering if any of you know how to make a type of homemade smoke gun, much smaller than a fire extinguisher, but just about as powerful and with the same "fill the room up with fog" affect. I Google searched for a while, but it kept coming up with smoke bombs and toys.
Maybe it brings up toys and smoke bombs because it dosn't exsist.

If it doesn't exist, then I'll just invent one.

We've got a fog/smoke machine we use for LARP events sometimes, the main box is about as long as my forearm and it's about 10/15cm high/wide. Pretty light too, yu can get hold of them fairly easily I think.

You can put staps on the fire extinguisher and turn it into a back-pack. Then just find someway to control the spray on the extinguisher.

So what you're looking for is smoke or actual substances like in a fire extinguisher?

Well, there's different types of fire extinguishers. I'm thinking of the kind that as you shoot is kind of like fog, white in color, and terrible smelling. Not the dust or foam kind. That, along with it shooting with the speed and pressure a fire extinguishers does seems ideal.

Well, they've all got some sort of material inside to help put out a fire. Otherwise it's just a big tank of canned air. I'd say to be really complicated, maybe you could research some way to pressurize your own tanks and add some sort of smoking material. Otherwise, look for a way to create smoke AND blow it. Tape a military smoke grenade to the end of a backpack leaf blower. But I'd guess you want something that won't be constantly running. Hence the gun part.
I rambled. A lot. But I'm sure you get my drift.
I just had another idea. What about a powder of some sort? Would that work? Like, talcum powder or powdered sugar.

Hmm. Powder might work if it ends up being a bit smoke-like. I was just playing with the idea of somehow remodeling my bike pump so that when I pump it, instead of air coming out, it's enough smoke/fog/stuff you can't see through to fill up a good portion of a room.
You'd just have to find someway to keep the fog/smoke/stuff into the cylinder part of the pump.

You can buy very small fire extinguishers for cars, I don't know if they contain smoke, powder or water, spraying foam at people would be funnier and make a better distraction while you leggit.

You could try smoke bombs; the little ones they sell as fireworks. They're small, portable, and some of them have a colored smoke/fog.

A number of fire extinguishers are nothing more than CO2.
Meaning go buy yourself a paintball CO2 tank and put a nozzle on it. I don't know if I'd really suggest shooting this or ANY fire extinguisher at people. CO2 is very cold and could cause frost bite, and other fire extinguishers are filled with chemicals (granted powder ones are mostly baking soda).
Really, doesn't seem the brightest of ideas in any case.

Just a safety note, don't be messing with fire extinguishers. Their only use is to put out a fire. Playing around with them will just fill your lungs with nasty things.
